Caribbean And Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Tourism Ministers Agree To Meet ‘En Block’ In November During The 2015 World Travel Market In London
On the sidelines of the UNWTO Haiti Meeting on Multidestination Opportunities for Regional Integration discussions were held informally between Minister Wykeham McNeill, the Minister for Tourism and Entertainment from Jamaica, Minister Richard Sealy, the Minister for Tourism and International Transport from Barbados, Minister Stephanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister for Tourism and Creative Industries from Haiti and Minister Manuel Marrero Crux, the Minister for Tourism from Cuba from the Caribbean, all members of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) and Minister Alain St.Ange, the Minister for Tourism and Culture from the Seychelles, a member of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands.
Minister Alain St.Ange (Seychelles), Minister Manuel Marrero Crux (Cuba), Minister Stephanie Balmir Villedrouin (Haiti), Minister Richard Sealy (Barbados) and Minister Wykeham McNeill (Jamaica).
Also in Haiti for the UNWTO meeting was also Minister Obediah H. Wilchcombe, the Minister of Tourism from the Bahamas. The Caribbean and the Indian Ocean Vanilla Island Members all agreed that their challenges, even if the two groups are from the other side of the globe from each other, remained the same. The Ministers mandated Hugh Riley, the CEO of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) and Pascal Viroleau, the CEO of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands to liaise together in order to set up a meeting between the Caribbean Tourism Ministers and those from the Indian Ocean.
“This proposed meeting between the Caribbean Tourism Ministers and those from the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands is a concrete step for the consolidation of tourism for our respective islands. Sharing of ideas and of our own experiences can only benefit each and everyone of us” said Alain St.Ange, the seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture.
