Carnival Cruise Line Entertainment’s Internship at Sea program has been recognized as one of the top programs in the U.S. by WayUp, an organization dedicated to helping early-career candidates discover internships and entry-level employment opportunities.

Since its inception in 2016, Carnival’s Internship at Sea has provided opportunities for nearly 70 students who have worked across the fleet in various shipboard entertainment roles including Fun Squad (social host) and youth counselors.

Unique in the cruise industry, the 12-week program is designed to provide college students a hands-on learning experience while developing teamwork, communication, problem-solving and leadership skills, with many students eventually earning full-time positions with the company. Students are selected for exemplifying Carnival’s culture and values, commitment to creating quality guest experiences and the ability to connect with others.

Students participate in a three-day orientation before setting sail and are provided with onboard mentors to help transition into shipboard life.

“Our innovative entertainment internship program has been an amazing experience both for the students and our employees. To be recognized by an esteemed organization such as WayUp is a wonderful validation of these efforts,” said Chris Nelson, Carnival’s vice president of entertainment.
