Cathay Pacific Airways will introduce a Premium Economy Class product on the airline’s Haneda-Hong Kong and Narita-Hong Kong services from Aug 1.

Premium Economy Class fares to Hong Kong start from 74,000 yen for flights from Narita, and from 81,000 yen for flights from Haneda on “Premium Eco-toku 3.”

Cathay Pacific first introduced Premium Economy on long haul and medium haul routes from April 2012 connecting Hong Kong to/from Europe, North America, Australia, Middle East and India.

From Aug 1, Cathay Pacific will introduce “Regional Premium Economy” on Hong Kong/Tokyo(Narita and Haneda) as well as Hong Kong/Manila. The launch of the service will provide passengers flying between Tokyo and Hong Kong with more choices.

Economy class customers will be able to upgrade at the airports with 5,000 yen (one way upgrade from Tokyo to Hong Kong and terms and conditions apply).

The new Premium Economy experience is offered in a separate cabin from Economy Class cabin with between 26 and 34 seats per aircraft. The seat pitch is 38 inches – six inches more than Economy Class – and the seat itself is wider and has a bigger recline. It has a large meal table, cocktail table, footrest, a 10.6-inch personal television, an in-seat power outlet, a multi-port connector for personal devices and extra personal stowage space.

Additionally, priority check-in at dedicated counters and priority boarding before Economy Class passengers are offered to Premium Economy passengers: furthermore, they will be given an increase in baggage allowance from 20kg to 25kg (weight system). Also, passengers on the new product will be eligible for 110% of economy Asia Miles.

As for long haul and medium haul routes (Hong Kong to/from Europe, North America, Australia, Middle East and India), passengers will experience additional services such as welcome drink, enhanced meal selection and environmentally friendly amenity kit, in addition to regional premium economy services.

The new Premium Economy class seats can be reserved and purchased at major travel agencies nationwide as well as on Cathay Pacific’s flagship website at where details such as terms of conditions are also announced.
