National Parks may get all the love, but this Earth Day, take advantage of New York State’s 179 State Parks. On April 22, take your pick for a stroll, bike ride or hike through a New York State Park to recharge and honor the Earth’s natural beauty.

  • Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park

One of Hudson Valley’s top attractions, Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park provides access to the Hudson River’s breathtaking landscape for pedestrians, hikers, joggers, bicyclists, and people with disabilities. The bridge deck, the longest, elevated pedestrian bridge in the world, stands 212 feet above the river’s surface and is 6,768 feet long. The park is a great way to explore the Poughkeepsie waterfront and experience the great views of the surrounding scenery. 

  • Letchworth State Park

Renowned as the “Grand Canyon of the East,” Letchworth State Park is one of the most scenic areas in the eastern United States. Surrounded by lush forests, the Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls, creating a magnificent and scenic landscape. Letchworth offers nature, history and performing arts programs, guided walks, tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking, a pool for swimming and hot air ballooning. 

  • Saratoga Spa State Park

Listed as a National Historic Landmark, Saratoga Spa State Park is noted for its diverse cultural, aesthetic and recreational resources. The park contains the nationally-known Saratoga Arts Center, the National Museum of Dance, the Gideon Putnam Resort and Roosevelt Baths, the Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course, the Peerless Pool Complex and a multitude of traditional recreational offerings. Suitable for the nature-lover or casual walker, Saratoga Spa State Park has something everyone will adore.
