Free Outdoor Movies, Rare Opening of Historic Mansion, Food and Wine Festival and Kids’ Fun Day
Spring will be in the air as the town of Camden in the Macarthur region holds its ever-popular annual festival with a number of activities and events.
Beginning on Sunday, September 11, 2016, with a free family-fun Picnic in the Park, the Camden Festival will incorporate events such as a ‘Cinema Under the stars’ at Australia’s biggest botanic garden and the annual opening of historic Camden Park House, once the home of colonial pioneers, John and Elizabeth Macarthur.
FREE –Picnic in the Park – High Tea and Garden Showcase – 10am-3pm, Sunday, September 11
The family-fun day Picnic in the Park will feature a variety of children’s activities, live entertainment, garden workshops, displays and food stalls – all situated in the historic Macarthur Park.

FREE – Kids’ Fun Day – 10am-2pm, Wednesday, September 14
A full-on fun day out for children and their parents, featuring roving entertainment, including an appearance by Batman and the Batmobile, face painting, clowns, an animal farm, novelty stalls, hair spraying and a free BBQ lunch.

FREE – ‘Cinema Under the Stars’ – From 6pm, Saturday, September 17
Australia’s biggest botanic garden will host two free new release outdoor movies beside the lake on Saturday, September 17 – one for children at6.15pm Zootopia (PG) and one for the family at 8pm, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (PG). BBQ, ice cream, popcorn and coffee will be available for purchase.

Once- a-Year Public Camden Park House and Garden Open Weekend –
Saturday September 17 and Sunday September 18
The 80-room Historic Camden Park House – the 1834 home of colonial pioneers John and Elizabeth Macarthur – is only open to the public once a year. Still the private home of the Macarthur descendants today, Camden Park will open for house and garden tours, gift and plant stalls, history talks, Devonshire teas and a BBQ lunch.
Saturday September 17 – 12 – 4pm and on Sunday September 18 – 10am-4pm.
House and garden tours $15 for adults, $12 for concessions and $40 per family. $10 for garden tours only.

FREE – ‘Taste’ Food, Wine and Music Festival – 12pm-5pm, Sunday, September 25
At the Camden Festival’s finale, enjoy a host of delicious food options, wine tasting from some of the region’s best winemakers plus cooking demonstrations and a meet and greet by Tasia and Gracia 2016 Winners of My Kitchen Rules, live entertainment, face painting, an animal farm and jumping castle for the kids. Bring a picnic rug and enjoy the fine food and wine on offer.
