Celebrate The Holidays With Fairmont Hotels & Resorts

Fairmont kicks off the season of giving with Trees of Hope, the luxury hotel brand’s special charitable initiative that encourages Fairmont hotels across the Americas to light up their lobbies and give back to their local communities. In keeping with the brand’s commitment to the remarkable destinations that Fairmont hotels call home, each participating hotel brings Trees of Hope to life in its own unique way, benefiting the local charity of its choice. Activities include:

Trees of Hope founder Fairmont Château Laurier is attempting to beat last year’s record donation of more than US$80,000 to Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario by hosting trees sponsored and decorated by local Ottawa companies, organisations and families. At Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, guests can purchase a holiday ornament for $20 to receive $20 off any a la carte spa or wellness treatment at the Well & Being Spa, with all proceeds benefiting Cox Charities. Fairmont Chateau Whistler and Mountain Galleries at the Fairmont will co-host several local Whistler artists as they live paint their version of a “Tree of Hope” to be displayed all through the festive season, raising funds and awareness for the Canuck’s Place Children’s Hospice. Fairmont Palliser has teamed up with Ronald McDonald House Charities® Southern Alberta for the second year, donating the proceeds from each gingerbread ornament sold to help support sick children and their families staying at the House. Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, includingFairmont San Francisco, Claremont Club & Spa, A Fairmont Hotel and Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, have partnered with the Do It For the Love Foundation to sell exclusive ornaments benefiting the organisation, which brings people living with life-threatening illnesses, children with severe challenges and wounded veterans to live concerts.

Those looking to give back while travelling can book the Trees of Hope package, which includes up to 40 percent off the best available rate, a $10 donation per night to the hotel’s charity of choice, and a $25 hotel credit per stay exclusively for Fairmont President’s Club members.

Whether taking in the Rockettes in New York City, crafting a snowman in Chicago, enjoying a family sleigh ride in Quebec or delighting in festive afternoon tea in Vancouver, below is a sampling of what is to come at the Fairmont Americas properties this holiday season.

Make the most of the season at one of New York City’s most iconic holiday hotels, The Plaza, A Fairmont Managed Hotel. Celebrate lavish productions and precision high kicks with the Christmas Spectacular Experience. The Plaza’s most popular holiday package includes luxurious accommodations and tickets to a matinee performance of the magical Radio City Christmas Spectacular, one of the city’s most beloved holiday traditions. Fans of Eloise can revel with The Plaza’s most famous resident at “Rawther” Fancy Teas and gingerbread house and cookie decorating at the Eloise at The Plaza shop on select dates throughout the month of December. Toast 2016 with the Ring in the New Year Package, with two tickets for the Black Tie New Year’s Eve event in The Palm Court. Enjoy cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and an elegant dinner buffet by The Plaza’s talented culinary team. A live band sets the tone for a night of dancing, and guests will ring in the New Year with a champagne toast at midnight.

Art and architectural detail have always held pride of place at Fairmont Pacific Rim. The hotel is turning its attention to the holidays, partnering with Versace Home Vancouver to re-imagine the traditional Christmas tree. It all begins with a chair – a Versace chair, then another chair, perhaps stacked or turned upside-down; and another. Iconic Versace home accessories will be added, and on November 23rd, this feat of imagination and engineering will be revealed just in time for the holidays. It will stand beside a 15-foot traditional tree, stylised by Versace Home, in the hotel lobby, serving as the focal point for holiday décor.

At Fairmont Chicago, guests can purchase a Snow Man in a Box and head out the hotel’s front doors to the winter wonderland that awaits them in the neighboring parks. Complete with a jaunty top hat, carrot nose, River Rock eyes, fluffy red scarf, colorful buttons and oak stick arms, this kit includes all the supplies needed to dress a new frozen friend in style and bring out the kid in everyone. The hotel will also host its second annual Cookies and Cheer, Luxury Cookie Exchangeon December 3, allowing guests to enjoy cookies and cocktails without any kitchen time, leaving the festive, modern soiree with three dozen delectable holiday cookies of their choice, wrapped in extravagant custom packaging.

The talented culinary team at Fairmont San Francisco will once again transform the hotel’s grand lobby into one of the world’s most cherished holiday destinations with an enormous two-story Gingerbread House. Lovingly built by Executive Chef Andrew Court and Executive Pastry Chef Kimberly Tighe, the house will stand more than 22 feet high and 23 feet wide, boasting a completely edible exterior, thousands of home-baked gingerbread bricks and more than a ton of royal icing and candy décor. This delectable abode will be unveiled at the annual Gingerbread Open House on November 28, complete with holiday refreshments, merry music and photo opportunities with Santa Claus, a Balloon Elf and a Christmas Fairy.

Fairmont Scottsdale Princess has transformed into a winter wonderland desert oasis during its 6th annual Christmas at the Princess festival. The enchanting AAA Five Diamond resort glistens with holiday splendor, featuring a four-story musical tree, Desert Ice Skating Rink, magical snowfalls, 2.8 million Lagoon Lights, three new holiday characters and nightly visits from jolly ol’ St. Nick himself. Guests can board the Princess Express train for a complimentary ride to see the lights twinkle and dance to holiday songs, watch an animated video show featuring holiday scenes set to music, or visit the Christmas Petting Zoo. Through Hanukkah, a nightly menorah lighting with latkes and applesauce takes place in the resort lobby. New for 2015 is a 3-D whale, five skating penguins, a 17-foot long infinity tunnel with 256 million color combinations, and a Christmas campfire offering seven fire pits where families can roast s’mores.

Among the merry myriad of ways to visit Santa this holiday season, none tops the penthouse view from the luxury Santa Suite on the 41st floor of Swissôtel Chicago. Starting December 3, the five-room Presidential Suite will be transformed into a whimsical hideaway for Santa, with exquisitely decorated Christmas trees and a host of magical details, from an elegant dinner table set with places for Santa and his special guests, to the trademark red suits and boots lined up in the closet and signature pipe next to his favourite chair. On complimentary guided tours led by Swissôtel elves, guests can stop by the letter-writing station to leave a holiday wish list, enjoy treats, and pick up a keepsake gift for all children on the “nice list.” Guests who post or tweet a photo of their visit using the hashtag #SwissSantaSuite will automatically be entered to win a number of prizes, including a one-night stay at Swissôtel Chicago. New for 2015, Swissôtel Chicago has partnered with PSAV’s award-winning Creative Services Media Arts team to create an original immersive animated short-film experience brought to life in the main hotel lobby. Clara’s Bear Isn’t Scared is a magical toy adventure that follows its main character from Santa’s North Pole Workshop to the luxurious Swissôtel Chicago Santa Suite.

Fairmont Grand Del Mar offers an array of Christmas and New Year’s packages. Treat that special someone to the All She Wants for Christmas Package, which includes luxurious accommodations in San Diego’s only AAA Five Diamond hotel, the choice of select 60-minute spa treatments, a $100 shopping credit for The Collection, Spa Boutique or Grand Gifts, and a four-course dinner for two at Addison, the hotel’s award-winning signature restaurant. Ring in the New Year with the And A Happy New Year Package, featuring a seven-course dinner for two at Addison, complimentary access to the hotel’s Grand New Year’s Eve Party, and New Year’s Day brunch in bed. Families can also take part in the holiday fun with kid-friendly activities such as the Polar Express Pajama Party and Story Time with Santa.

Airports are not just for frantic holiday travel. Get into the holiday spirit with Fairmont Vancouver Airport’s Mistletoe Tea. This seasonal twist on traditional Afternoon Tea offers festive fare – including tempting sweets, house made scones and finger sandwiches – created by the hotel’s pastry shop for the holidays. With four seating’s per day throughout December, these spots fill up fast, and advance reservations are recommended.

Celebrate the last holiday season at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth before the hotel closes in June to complete a $140 million renovation project to transform and revitalise the iconic property. Ring in the final New Year before the hotel gets a new look with The Ultimate Glam Night Package, which includes luxury accommodations, a welcome amenity, and a gastronomical 7-course New Year’s Eve dinner at The Beaver Club for two adults, complete with a bottle of champagne, festive hats and noisemakers, and a live band to dance the night away.

Join Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in the majestic Canadian Rockies and the heart of Jasper National Park for a holiday season celebration. The Festival of Christmas Offer gives guests access to an abundance of activities, both inside and out, to make the most of this winter wonderland. The package includes Christmas accommodations in a Deluxe Room, in-room Christmas tree complete with a decorating kit, and holiday activities including ice-skating with Elves on Lake Mildred, Caroling in the Great Hall, Stargazing with s’mores and more.
