Internationally celebrated landscape photographer Ben Heide has teamed up with Warooka local Steph Ball, to offer amateur photographers (SLR and camera phones) access to some of Southern Yorke Peninsula’s most spectacular locations, many of them on private property. Ben welcomes YP residents to book a day off onFriday 30 August 2019, to attend a travelling workshop, taking in private property ruins, pristine salt lake and waterhole reflections, wildflower hot spots and rustic ocean cliffs and stairways.

The Locals Day will be held at 10am, Friday 30 August, at Ballara Art & Lifestyle Retreat in Warooka, with a welcoming morning tea. Two drivers will courier Ben and attendees to all locations, MBC Foods will cater lunch and if the weather permits, the day will conclude with a sun-downer wine and canapés by Nourish on Yorkes, beginning at 5pm, Flaherty’s Beach. Seven hours of professional photography tuition, three caterers and complimentary travel between the picturesque sites is just $195 per person.
Steph and Ben have also curated a four day photography tour from Monday 26 – Friday 30 August,  which incorporates many other features and destinations, including a qualified local ranger educating the group about endangered species and the need for diligent protection for some of the most delicate and fragile plants on southern Yorke Peninsula.

Ben Heide, a talented photographer with social media influence, was selected by YP Tourism to attend the Yorke Peninsula Instameet initiative in the summer of 2017. This tourism initiative was awarded a Qantas National Tourism Award in the destination marketing category.

Steph Ball of Warooka, a celebrated photographer in her own right, has attended a number of photography tours across Australia, including a seven day tour at Diggers Rest in the east Kimberleys, including helicopter views over where the movie Australia was filmed. Attending a number of photography has inspired Steph to create her own, playing local tour guide and gaining permission for private property access to secretive and stunning properties for photography enthusiasts too enjoy.

“I’m fortunate enough to be the custodian of a beautiful 100+ year-old stone homestead, now a holiday retreat, with views across green pastures to Flaherty’s Beach. I’m also part of a farming family with diverse and varied landscapes in every corner of ‘the paddock’. It brings me great joy to play tour guide and share with journalists and photographers of all abilities, our region’s exceptional and unique natural beauty.”

Ben agrees, and is excited to join Steph for the week.

“Yorkes is an incredible place, with its amazing skies, varied coastline and vast landscapes.  I’ve brought my young family to Marion Bay and Wallaroo and shot a friend’s wedding on the SYP coastline, so I’m excited to join Steph on this unique tour. To have access to private property secrets, to share some tips and tricks around my style of landscape photography and how this hobby can be a great artistic release, is a great idea and I’m excited for the experience.”
