Celebrating 10 years of keeping Europe more affordable

UTracks, Australia’s leading provider of active European holidays is running a 10th anniversary sale, offering 10 classic European trips at their original 2007 price.

UTracks General Manager, Kate Baker, says the 10 trips featured in UTracks’ first-ever active European brochure include trips that are still best sellers today such as a cycle trip along the Blue Danube, a bike and barge trip in France’s Loire Valley, walking along the famous Camino, and a guided walk around Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe.

“When we first launched UTracks in 2007, we set out to provide the most affordable and comprehensive range of European walking and cycling experiences for the Australian market,” Ms Baker said.

“Since then, our offering has grown from 60 itineraries in 10 countries to more than 400 itineraries in 35 countries. It’s been an amazing experience watching UTracks grow from its infant stages to a thriving and relevant market leader.”

In looking back at the UTracks journey, Ms Baker said they discovered just how affordable their itineraries have remained in the past decade.

”For example, back in 2007 our eight-day Blue Danube Cycle trip was priced at $990 per person. 10 years later, that same trip has increased by as little as $180 per person.

“And better still, the eight-day Crossing Corsica Walk has not increased by one cent between 2007 and 2017.

“We did some more research with key partners and discovered that travelling to Europe has never been more affordable. For example, Thai Airways’ airfares to Europe are around 30% cheaper right now, compared to 10 years ago.

“And while some European rail products have increased in price by less than 10% on average over the last 10 years, many of the point-to-point tickets have actually decreased in price.”

And according to Ingrid Kocijan, Commercial Director of European company, Rail Plus, two standout rail products that continue to grow from strength to strength are the Eurail Passes and Eurostar tickets.

“The value and convenience of using these products continues to be recognised each year; and more and more travellers are also taking advantage of large discounts by booking early,” Mrs Kocijan said.
