Today, marks 100 years since construction commenced on Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road. The 234km road was built by returned servicemen after World War I in dedication to their fallen comrades, making the coastal roadway the world’s largest war memorial.

Originally constructed to connect isolated coastal towns between Torquay and Warrnambool, the road provides access to providing access to several prominent landmarks, including the Twelve Apostles limestone formations, Otway forest and surfing mecca Bells Beach.  Several sporting events are also hosted on the Great Ocean Road including the Victorian leg of the World Surfing League Championship, the Great Ocean Road Running Festival Ultra Marathon and the Great Ocean Otway Cycling classic.
