The inaugural “EFFERVESCENCE TASMANIA” Sparkling Weekend is to take place on Friday 31st October and Saturday 1st of November 2014. It serves as a celebration of the world class sparkling wines emanating from the Island State of Tasmania.
Presented by the makers themselves and supported by Tasmania’s world famous seafood and artisan food producers, this will be a tasting experience like no other. Effervescence is the opportunity for consumers and trade to try some of Tasmania’s best sparkling wines and learn why Tasmania is the epi-centre of New World sparkling wine.

The event will provide the greatest assembled consumer tasting of Tasmanian Sparkling Wine to date. Relaxed public tastings and masterclasses will be combined with Tasmania’s famous seafood in an idyllic vineyard setting and guests will be able to expand their knowledge by talking directly to the people behind these famous vines and wines.

The Sparkling Master classes will be moderated by Tyson Stelzer, the Wine Communicators of Australia Australian Wine Communicator of the Year 2013 and The International Champagne Writer of the Year 2011. The panel will consist of some of the New World’s best sparkling winemakers including Dr Andrew Pirie (Apogee), Ed Carr (House Of Arras), Natalie Fryar (Jansz) and Loic Le Calvez (Clover Hill). This will allow those present to take an in depth look at the sparkling wines of Tasmania, it’s terroir, styles, vinification methods and taste some the finest bubbles in the New World.

“It’s a great privilege to be involved with the inaugural Effervescence Tasmania. This is no generic promotional event, but rather an exclusive, invitation-only showcase of the finest sparkling houses of Tasmania”, Tyson said.

The event will be held in the beautiful grounds of Josef Chromy Wines located just 10 minutes from the City of Launceston and commences with the Grand Degustation Dinner on Friday 31st October before the main tastings on Saturday the 1st of November. Additional events including master classes and tastings from the Telstra Australian Business of the Year – Bruny Island Cheese Co, Tas Prime Oysters and Huon Aquaculture, guests can experience some of life’s most decadent combinations.

Jeremy Dineen, Chief Winemaker at Josef Chromy Wines said, “This is one of the most exciting wine events to take place in Tasmania and provides an unparalleled opportunity to taste some of the world’s greatest sparkling wines”.
