Chic and fashionable Vive Cake Boutique is celebrating Father’s Day with Founder and Cake Designer Vivien Lau’s newest creation, a visually stunning ‘My Forever Hero’ coffee mousse cake and the launch of a dainty new ‘Coffee Maniac Trio’ of coffee-flavoured desserts.

Vive Cake Boutique’s sister boutiques in H Queen’s, Central and Lee Tung Avenue, Wan Chai (www.vive.hk) are hailed among the “crème de la crème” of Hong Kong’s bespoke dessert artisans – with a fanbase including numerous celebrities and socialites.

Bearing the inscription ‘My Forever Hero’, the Father’s Day tribute treats Dads to a sumptuous chocolate-glazed cake layered with vanilla sponge, hazelnut marshmallow and coffee mousse – topped with chocolate crunches and an edible ‘hero hammer’.  Made to order with at least three days’ notice, the cake is priced HK$680 (1.5lb), and delivery is available for most addresses with additional charge.

“Whether it’s his first, his fifth or his 50th, Vive Cake Boutique would like to bring your Dad something super memorable this Father’s Day,” said Founder and Cake Designer Vivien Lau.

Along with the Father’s Day celebration, Vive Cake Boutique is also launching a brand new ‘Coffee Maniac Trio’ tasting set of delectable desserts styled especially for coffee lovers from 1 June throughout summer, available for dining in or take away.

Priced HK$112 the set that comes with a cold-brew coffee includes a fluffy coffee mousse cake layered with Chocolate sponge and a filling of delicate osmanthus (gwai faa) and dried cranberries; a chocolate sponge layered with coffee mousse and hazelnut marshmallow, on a crunchy chocolate base is the perfect chocolate-coffee medley; and a vanilla sponge layered with coffee mousse, passionfruit jam and chocolate pearl is idyllic for a balmy summer day.

With professional baristas handpicking top quality coffee beans rated 80 or above by the Specialty Coffee Association, roasted locally for premium freshness, Vive Cake Boutique crafts its own coffee to pair with the artisan cakes. Its signature ‘Mouthfeel Espresso Blend’ is low in acid and fructose with a clean, bright fruit flavour with hint of nuts and chocolate and floral notes. With seating at both boutique cafes, for 12 in Wan Chai and 18 in Central, guests can relax and enjoying a cup of coffee with the delicate desserts.

Vive Cake Boutique has proved a roaring success story since being launched with online orders in 2014 by founder and creative director Vivien Lau, who discovered her passion and talent by chance, making her first cake for a friend’s birthday.

Encouraged by celebrity friend Mayao Ma, she subsequently opened a ‘pop up’ at The Pulse. With a fast-growing following, the eponymous brand has since expanded into two cake shops with trademark ‘pink’ and sleek  marble décor complementing her elegant creations in Wan Chai and Central.

Her signature ‘hand-made with love’ cakes, cupcakes, macarons, cookies, confectioneries and tailor-made cakes  for weddings and special  occasions, are all made  from  scratch  from finest  ingredients sourced  from  all  over  the  world.  The iconic “uni-cone” cake is in light pastel tones with exquisitely crafted cake designs spotlights a kaleidoscope layered with eight different flavours : Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese, Pistachio Cake with Pistachio Buttercream, Green Tea Cake with Green Tea Buttercream, Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Cream and Crunchies, Lemon Cake with Lemon Buttercream filled with Yuzu Curd, Earl Grey Butter Cake with Earl Grey Cream Cheese, Banana Cake with Chocolate Buttercream, and Hazelnut Cake with Hazelnut Buttercream.

Vive Cake Boutique has attracted widespread acclaim, including Time Out’s listing among the “crème de la crème of Hong Kong’s bespoke dessert makers” with a large celebrity and socialite following including Aaron Kwok, Charlene Choi, Gillian Chung, Niki Chow, Sharon Chan, Miki Yeung and more.

Dedicating her artistic passion into crafting edible works of art that are intricate and elegant, playful and feminine, beautiful, delicious and original, self-taught Vivien Lau has from the beginning, stood by her motto: “The only way to create great things is to love what you create”.
