Once again, Celebrity Cruises breaks new ground by bringing its latest onboard experience to land. The modern cruise brand’s new “A Taste of Film” will sail into the Newport Beach Film Festival, April 21-28, 2016.

For the first time in Southern California, Celebrity Cruises will bring “A Taste of Film” to the Newport Beach Film Festival as an official sponsor. The experience onboard Celebrity’s ships includes a new Rooftop Terrace where passengers are taken on a multi-sensory journey as they enjoy a specific cultural, culinary or destination-based film, while dining on cuisine that brings the movie’s scenes to life through guests’ taste buds. Onboard, the specially crafted, multi-course tasting menu for “A Taste of Film” is designed by Michelin-starred chef Cornelius Gallagher, Associate Vice President, Food and Beverage Operations, Celebrity Cruises.

The cruise line will join more than 40 acclaimed SoCal restaurants at the Opening Night Gala on Thursday, April 21, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., at Fashion Island. Attendees will be able to enjoy its Celebrity Cruises Wine Tasting Lounge featuring Jackson Family Wines. Musical and acrobatic entertainment also will be provided.

Then on Sunday, April 24 at the Port Theater in Corona del Mar from 2 to 5 p.m., Celebrity Cruises will screen “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” a film that tells the story of a feud between two adjacent restaurants in a French town: one operated by a recently relocated Indian family and the other a Michelin-starred French restaurant.

Guests will be transported by the Port Theater’s nod to the sea while viewing “The Hundred-Foot Journey” and savoring eight courses prepared by award-winning Chef Pascal Olhats, Chef/Owner Pascal Restaurant, Café Jardine and Pascal Catering. The menu, which guests will enjoy throughout the film, is inspired by the acclaimed film’s French and Indian cuisines. Each course will be perfectly paired with fine wines from Jackson Family Wines.

“A Taste of Film activates all the senses to create a fully immersive and transportive experience,” said Scott Clifton, Director of Sales, Western Region. “We launched with ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’ because it emphasizes – through both story and visuals – the power of food to bring people together, and to evoke memories.”

A Taste of Film is available onboard Celebrity Infinity and Celebrity Summit and will arrive onboard Celebrity Millennium in May 2016, when the ship emerges from a brief refresh drydock. Along with the new Rooftop Terrace, complete with its large screen, lounges, cabanas, soundscape and decorative lighting, additional drydock enhancements include a significant refresh of the ships’ Penthouse and Royal Suites, and the conversion of both the Normandie and The Olympic specialty restaurants to one of Celebrity’s signature dining venues, Tuscan Grille, which will offer a new, modern experience.
