Throughout the month of May, sea cucumber aficionados rejoice as Chef Heng cooks up a series of dishes using only premium ingredients. To pique diners’ palates with its slightly crunchy texture and subtle sweetness in taste, the highly nutritious menus are available in three delicious selections.
The dishes include Double Boiled Black Chicken Soup with Sea Cucumber, Dried Scallops and Cabbage, Stuffed Sea Cucumber Braised in Superior Golden Sauce and Stewed Sea Cucumber with Capsicum and Garlic.
Found only in salt water, sea cucumbers are sausage-shaped animals with a warty and leathery skin. Its size depends on the species but most are usually 3.9 to 12 inches long. This prized ingredient is also known as ginseng of the sea among the Chinese due to its nutritional value as it is higher in protein and lower in fat than most food in the world.
