CELLARDOORS.CO launches to reinvent wine tourism

CELLARDOORS.CO – the wine discovery platform, has launched to offer wine tourists an interactive, informed travel experience – making wineries in all regions more visible, social, accessible and shareable.

The new – Australian conceived and developed – platform (app + website + guidebooks) connects wineries and wine regions with travellers in Australia via a range of smart features – including geo-specific and detailed cellar door listings, specialties, varieties, facilities, ratings, customised wine trails, accommodation, restaurants and nearby attractions.

Designed for smart travellers in the age of the smartphone, wine tourists can use the CELLARDOORS.CO app to:

  • Follow maps of all listings and directions
  • Build itineraries
  • Rate and review listings
  • Apply customised filters according to preferences like wine variety, facilities and ‘open now’.

The free app will list all Australian wineries. It will also feature highly detailed information on an extensive network of wineries – including some of the most highly awarded trophy and gold medal winners as well as those off the beaten track, waiting to be discovered.

CELLARDOORS.CO is the brain-child of Australian wine industry identity, Judith Kennedy AM, “I have spent 20 years working with cellar door wineries and the outstanding restaurants and accommodation businesses who support them in regions across Australia and all of the New World wine nations. In the majority of cases, cellar doors are the backbone of tourism in vibrant regional centres that are at the core of the tourism experience. To many, it’s a struggle for identity. To me it’s obvious that the answer is in combining them together, region by region, nation by nation, into one large family with the cellar doors as the pivot, and travellers as the key.”

Words from the wine industry
Said Adam Elbourne, Owner from Elbourne Wines, “It is quite topical for us at present – as a consumer as well as a producer. We have a trip planned down to Tassie this month and thought we would explore the Tamar River area for five days or so. It has been hard to put all the pieces together in terms of some must-do wine routes combined with accommodation and even restaurants. We especially would love to visit a few top boutique producers in the Tamar and with little knowledge, this is very hard to piece together.”

The app is supported by the CELLARDOORS.CO website, which is synchedwith the app, containing the same information and individual users’ details, preferences and saved information. A 200 page, full-colour CELLARDOORS.CO travellers’ guide will be published in late 2017 and available for purchase in bookstores, online and at cellar doors throughout Australia.

CELLARDOORS.CO was officially launched today at the Boutique Wines Trophy Presentation event at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney.
