Here’s cheers to a fabulous 2017!

Whilst best known for producing around 80% of Australia’s wine, Adelaide, South Australia will also be firmly focused on Beer, Whiskey and Spirits this year with the Adelaide Convention Bureau happy to announce two significant events within the beverage genre have been won for 2017.

The Australian Craft Beer Industry Association’s (CIBA) premier annual event, its national conference, expo and awards will bring some 500 craft beer brewers and industry personnel to Adelaide in July.

According to CIBA’s executive officer Chris McNamara, delegates will also attend from New Zealand and parts of Asia to exchange methodologies and industry innovations.

‘The ACBC and trade expo is a quickly growing marketplace dedicated to the beer industry and reflects the growth of the craft brewing. It is a sign of our high brewing standards and the regard with which the Australian craft brewing industry is held,’ said Mr McNamara.

Additionally, the world Whiskies and Spirits Conference will hold the first of three events in Adelaide in 2017 (plus 2019 and 2021).  This premier event has only ever been held in Scotland, London and New York since its debut event in 2006 however organisers seeking a Southern Hemisphere destination were attracted to South Australia’s healthy agricultural (particularly with respect to  grains and soils) and viticultural industries which made Adelaide the perfect choice.

World Whiskies and Spirits 2017 in Adelaide will mark the first ever gathering of the spirits and whisky industries throughout the entire Asia Pacific region.  Incorporating the whole spirits industry, the event will include analysis of local and international product, design, sales and marketing trends. The event programme will be designed in consultation with a distinguished panel of industry experts aimed at all whisky and spirits producers regardless of location.

Ken Bromfield, World Whiskies and Spirits Conference said “Adelaide’s existing drinks industry along with its trends toward spirit production made it an ideal destination for the first World Whiskies and Spirits Conference outside the UK and USA.  That we’ve committed for 3 events over six years speaks volumes about how excited we are to bring global leaders in the industry to what we feel will be an increasingly important destination for the genre.”

Quote from Damien Kitto, CEO Adelaide Convention Bureau

“The Adelaide Convention Bureau is thrilled these two events have chosen Adelaide as their host destination.  South Australia’s wine regions are of course internationally famous – what’s not so well known is our rapidly increasing craft beer, cider and spirits industry.  Agriculture is a massive contributor to the state economy which apart from export, lends itself perfectly to local spirit and cider production.   Local investment in the drinks industry across beer, cider and spirits is exceptionally healthy and we’re producing some fantastic world class products.”
