unnamed (2)Noho’s reputed Parisian bistro Cocotte welcomes guests to unwind in their tranquil setting with Chef Petrous’ summer-fresh menu that captures the essence of a Montmartre dining experience. Chef Petrous is fast earning a reputation for pared down French cooking with intricate details that put the edge on French cuisine. Cocotte’s summer menu is an ode to timeless classics with a little added je ne sais quoi from the appetisers right down to the quaint desserts.

Already a Cocotte hit, Chef Petrous’ Steak Tartare (HKD168) is back on the menu for those who know what they love. Loyal to his Parisian roots yet set apart by his keen eye for international influences, Chef Petrous’ Yellowtail Ceviche (HKD188) is an exotic addition to the menu with its intriguing ponzu vinaigrette, jalapeno, pickled ginger shiso cress and cilantro salad. Cocotte’sAsparagus Garden (HKD168) is a cheeky take on the classic asparagus salad with quirky ingredients such as pickled shimeji, quail eggs and porcini soil.

Fresh salads, such as the Layered King Crab and Avocado Salad (HKD178) are light ways to overcome the heat and are best enjoyed in Cocotte’s airy setting. Mains are equally dreamy, the Duck Legs (HKD278) is based on Chef Petrous’ mother’s recipe and is a cosy confit duck leg with caramelised pineapple and cilantro and almond rice for Cocotters who fancy a bit of a summer comforter. For those looking for something with the punchy charm of the Marseille seaside, there’s the Bouillabaisse Marseillaise for 2(HKD718), an abundant seafood soup of whole lobster, mussels, clams, squid, salmon, sea bass, new potatoes, baby carrots, croutons and saffron aioli.

No one does steak like the French and the Aged French Beef Ribeye 500g (HKD648), a succulent cut of French Charolaise beef, is a cut above the rest. The Kurobuta Pork Prime Rib (350g) (HKD408) cured using time-honoured methods and carefully smoked over real hardwood is sweet, tender and rich in flavour. All From-The-Grill dishes come served with two sides and two sauces of the guests’ choice (the classic potato puree is not to be missed).

The Chocolate Marquise (HKD88) is a triumph of dark chocolate marquise, puffy rice clusters, white chocolate cream, mint coulis and apricot sauce whilst Les Choux Tropéziens (HKD88), homemade choux buns with Grand Marnier, orange and Tropézienne cream with a Cocotte twist, will transport guests to a seaside sunset in St. Tropez and are a great prelude to a petit digestif.

This summer at Cocotte is an all-encompassing experience that offers guests the best of French cooking and stylish Parisian dining with all the friendliness of Cocotte’s team. Dining amidst the tranquillity of the Shin Hing Steps will be the coolest way to spend long summer evenings in good company.
