Cherry Blossom Season Arrives Early At The Peninsula Tokyo

February 5, 2014 Hotel News No Comments Email Email

The Peninsula Tokyo is bringing one of Japan’s most cherished seasons to life two weeks early this year. From 8-15 March 2014, cherry blossom season will take place in the hotel lobby – several weeks before the city’s own cherry blossoms come into bloom.

image003Adding a modern take to this much loved tradition, guests will enjoy cherry blossom season like no other hotel has done before, with seven magnificent sakura arrangements, each illuminated and standing more than 2.5 meters tall, 64 cherry blossom table arrangements and 10 custom-made Japanese lanterns adorning the base of the hotel’s signature lobby art piece by Keisen Hama.

By day, Tokyo and the world will pass under the lobby’s cherry-blossom-like-clouds while being serenaded by traditional Japanese koto music, and by night they will be treated to a serene setting with flickering washi paper lanterns, ivory walls and wooden lattices, echoing the senbongoshi architecture of old Kyoto, the nation’s former capital and still the centre of Japanese culture.

As cherry blossom fever grips the nation with television news stations reporting on the first blossom of the season and Japanese camping out overnight to claim the best places under the cherry trees, guests will be assured that The Peninsula’s ohanami, or cherry blossom viewing party, will be Tokyo’s most glamorous.

Those wishing to stay at The Peninsula Tokyo during cherry blossom season can enjoy special room rates from JPY 43,000* per room per night for a minimum two night stay. The rate is available until 15 March 2014 and includes daily American breakfast for two and a guaranteed upgrade to the next available room category.

* Terms and conditions apply. Rates are subject to tax and service charge
