CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang has launched a new spa treatment inspired by the healing properties of the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea.

The Rasa Ocean Inspiration treatment encompasses the potent properties of extra briny Dead Sea salt and Dead Sea mud.

The benefits of the Dead Sea mineral salt and Dead Sea mud found in the Rasa Ocean Inspiration spa treatment are manifold. Dead Sea water contains a higher mineral salt content than normal seawater. With 27 per cent salt content, compared with the 3 per cent salt content in normal seawater, Dead Sea water contains very little sodium, but is rich in magnesium, potassium, calcium chloride Rasa Ocean Inspiration Treatment_press releaseand bromides.

The Rasa Ocean Inspiration spa treatment harnesses therapeutic solutions found in organic minerals and unique trace elements from thermo-mineral springs under the Dead Sea. The best ingredients have been sourced for this spa treatment to ensure maximum benefits derived from a holistic treatment that lasts two-and-a-half hours. The treatment comprises a 15-minute Sea Salt Soak, a half-hour Sea Salt Scrub, a 45-minute Dead Sea Mud Wrapand a 60-minute energising Asian Blend Massage.

The sea salt soak helps to regenerate the skin’s moisture and increases hydration. The scrub activates circulation and speeds up sluggish metabolism, resulting in better overall well being. The salt scrub also exfoliates dead skin and prepares the body to receive the total benefits of the Dead Sea Mud Wrap.

The Dead Sea Mud Wrapconsists of Dead Sea mud, which is rich in trace elements, such as calcium, magnesium and other micronutrients. The high mineral content assists in drawing excess oils and impurities from the skin, soothes general aches and calms troubled skin. The energising massage completes this refreshing ritual, ensuring that the body optimises the benefits of the famed Dead Sea salt. The Asian Blend Massage is a combination of Swedish and Chinese Tui Na techniques that work in synergy to stimulate circulation and restore the smooth flow of chi in the body. This massage helps clear energy channels, releases tension and promotes an overall sense of well-being.

The Rasa Ocean Inspiration spa treatment is priced at MYR 500+ per person (6 percent government tax). The Rasa Ocean Inspiration spa treatment is available starting 1 May 2014. For reservations, please call (04) 888 8888.
