China Southern Presents a Summer of Fun with Sydney Festival

China Southern Airlines will celebrate its fourth sponsorship of the Sydney Festival by sponsoring a range of cultural events that promise to bring plenty of fun and entertainment to the capital this summer.

The program of events for Sydney Festival 2015 was revealed today and includes almost 500 shows, some ticketed and others like the popular Domain events free.

This year China Southern is pleased to present an Australian exclusive, in a special screening of the multi-Academy Award winning silent film The Artist. The film, billed as a modern classic, will be brought to life at Sydney Opera House on January 23 and 24 with a moving soundtrack performed live by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Lift off to the popular Summer Sounds concerts in the Domain concerts will be one of Brazil’s hottest musicians, Seu Jorge, in a dance-ready Australian premiere on January 10 while the annual Symphony in the Domain on January 18 will see the Sydney Symphony Orchestra combine with the ARIA-winning didgeridooist William Barton to play the late Peter Sculthorpe’s Beethoven Variations with poetry and prose narration by Aboriginal commentator Dr Anita Heiss.

China Southern’s ferry will take to Sydney Harbour once again for the annual Australia Day Ferrython spectacular, vying with fellow Sydney Festival sponsors The Star and NRMA Motoring & Services for first place under the Harbour Bridge finish line.

China Southern Regional General Manager Australia/New Zealand Henry He said the airline was delighted to have the opportunity to bring world-class shows to Sydney’s most iconic venues in its fourth year as official airline sponsor.
