Choice Hotels Asia-Pac, one of Australia’s largest hotel franchise groups, today announced the appointment of Frank Scerri as its new National Development Manager.

In the newly created position, Mr Scerri will be in charge of continuing Choice Hotels’ drive towards adding new properties to its portfolio. Utilising his previous experience in property development and project marketing, Mr Scerri will spearhead high-valued property deals, including multi-units and groups, as well as new build developments.

Following his appointment, Mr Scerri said, “I’m delighted to join Choice Hotels as the new National Development Manager. It’s such an exciting time for the hospitality industry and Choice Hotels. By offering accommodation with every traveller’s wants in mind, Choice is in the prime position to add more properties to its ever-growing portfolio.”

The newly created position comes on the heels of Choice Hotels announcing its strong results for the previous 12 months, including the best quarter for development this decade.

“I look forward to bringing my previous experience to this position and developing relationships with new franchisees and developers to show them the benefits of partnering with Choice Hotels,” Mr Scerri added.

With demand for domestic[1] and international[2] overnight trips growing by more than 8% in the last year, Mr Scerri’s experience will play a key role in ensuring Choice Hotels grows its portfolio in line with consumer needs.

Welcoming Mr Scerri to Choice Hotels, General Manager, Development Daniel Kitch said, “Frank comes to us with a highly successful career spanning a range of relevant industries that makes him perfectly suited to our new National Development Manager role. His skills and knowledge will no doubt create new franchise opportunities for all of our brands.”

As the countries largest hotel franchisor, Choice Hotels franchises its brands to existing hotels and resorts, as well as new hotel developments. Franchisees benefit from extensive support which includes utilising Choice’s global reservations and distribution systems, benefiting from powerful sales and marketing programs, high quality training services and other operational support.

“Recent significant growth, including an increase in overnight stays at Choice Hotels, has made it essential for us to have someone like Frank dedicated to continuing the momentum currently in place. We’d like to officially welcome Frank to the Choice Hotels family and look forward to him helping to increase our property portfolio,” said Mr Kitch.

Choice Hotels has added 1,100 hotel rooms to its portfolio during the past 12 months across Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to joining Choice Hotels, Mr Scerri held positions in retail travel, brand development, business development, and sales and marketing within the tourism industry. Mr Scerri’s experience in tourism, coupled with his property development and project marketing skills, provides Choice with well-rounded insight on how best to further build its portfolio of franchisees through existing properties and new developments.

Choice Hotels Asia-Pac is one of the largest hotel franchisors in Asia Pacific, with more than 270 hotels across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
