It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Brisbane Showgrounds, with Queensland’s largest indoor / outdoor events venue wrapping up a successful year, with a bumper quarter filled with festive functions and end of year celebrations.
More than 60 events, attended by a total of around 85,000 people, have been held this quarter including gala dinners, conferences, graduation balls and of course festive parties, including several carnival themed Christmas celebrations at Stockmen’s Bar and Grill.
The December Christmas parties come off the back of the Brisbane Showgrounds’ busiest month of the year, November, which saw 35 events take place across 30 days, including the Channel Nine Telethon which was broadcast across Queensland and raised $12.3 million for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC) chefs have been kept busy with the end of year functions and will have served around 28,000 meals across November and December by the end of the month, including dishes featuring Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show medal-winning produce.
Brisbane Showgrounds General Manager of Venue Sales and Marketing Jago Coyle said it had been a busy year, with almost 300 events staged at the Brisbane Showgrounds since January.
“It has been a successful year for the Brisbane Showgrounds and Royal ICC, which is a true testament to our professional and dedicated staff and our world-class venue,” he said.
“We are looking forward to another successful year in 2017, with many new or returning events already booked, including banquets, conferences and exhibitions.”
The 22 hectare Brisbane Showgrounds precinct is located just 1.5km from Brisbane’s CBD and is Queensland’s largest indoor / outdoor events site.
