Companies looking for a unique team-building event can now take part in the Australian-first ‘Hike for Light’ executive retreat while helping end energy poverty in Vanuatu.

Launched on 10 September, Hike for Light is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) team experience eveloped in partnership with SolarBuddy and On Track Expeditions. It’s an Australian-first initiative and unique in the corporate event space.

The program was developed as part of cievents and SolarBuddy’s goal of gifting 45,000 lights to hildren across Vanuatu which will officially take these children out of energy poverty.

cievents Global General Manager Natalie Simmons said the program provides a unique experience or corporate teams where they have the opportunity to make a positive difference for communities and help achieve the overall goal of taking Vanuatu 100% out of Energy Poverty over the coming 18 months.

“As an agency, we are passionate about creating experiences that engage and inspire, so to be able to develop a unique program designed around a shared experience with real purpose was a very exciting opportunity,” said Natalie.

This engaging, hands-on experience will provide teams the opportunity to learn about energy poverty, raise funds for solar lights and distribute them to the children. The children are then able to study once the sun goes down, improving education, providing a better health environment and creating brighter futures,” she said.

While on this program, teams will hike through stunning jungle landscapes while learning about the rich culture of Vanuatu. Other elements of the program include an insight and contribution into local sustainability issues and a night camping to experience the hospitality of a local village. Their experience will be led by the experts at On Track Expeditions who have been a leader in remote and adventure trekking since 2010.

The highlight of the program will see teams personally deliver solar lights to children to help them study after dark and experience first-hand the impact these lights will have on the children of Vanuatu.

The cievents team and SolarBuddy’s CEO and Founder Simon Doble were able to experience this program first hand in May this year, and Natalie said it was an incredible experience for everyone involved. “Seeing the impact with our own eyes was a highlight of this unique experience and something our team will never forget. We can’t wait to open up this opportunity to companies across Australia and New Zealand with plans to offer this program globally in the coming 12 months addressing other communities living in energy poverty across the Dominican Republic, Madagascar & South Africa” she said.
