Club Med unveils new destination for MICE market, following booming demand for ‘Rent-a-Resort’

Capitalising on the growing demand for group travel destinations in Asia, Club Med Australia has reported 100 per cent uplift in MICE bookings year-on-year in 2013.

Proving particularly popular, enquiries for Club Med’s ‘Rent-a-Resort’ concept have tripled, as organisers seek exclusive access to an entire Resort.

Building on its existing Asian presence in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan, Club Med is 3FBE6DB5-0CF3-41D7-BF23-14CD81255E96launching a second resort in China in September this year. Club Med Guilin, located in a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site and boasts luxury facilities for up to 480 guests. The Resort has unique features, including a lakeside sculpture park and a stunning limestone cavethat hosts atmospheric candle-lit events.

Brendon King,Groups and Incentives Manager for Club Med Australia and New Zealand says, “Over the past twelve months, we’ve seen significant growth in group bookings at our most popular Resorts with the Australian MICE market – Bali, Cherating Beach and Phuket – which cater for Rent-a-Resort events for up to 900 guests. Following the opening of Guilin, we’re expecting the Resort to be in high demand, as China becomes a strong contender for group travel.

The growth of Rent-a-Resort bookings

Club Med’s unique Rent-a-Resort concept caters for groups of between 300 and 1000 delegates, with the vision of inspiring guests and creating the perfect conference, productlaunch or incentive getaway. The increasingly popular option offers groups access to an entire resort, with all Resort staff and facilities at the organiser’s exclusive disposal, and every little detail taken care of. Tailored packages cater for specific needs, with options including the ability to re-name the resort, personalise activities and menus, and create dining options with a ‘wow factor’, ensuring a fully flexible, private and premium event designed to boost team spirit and productivity for the coming year.

King explains why a growing number of Club Med’s MICE customers, including ING Bank, Nutrimetrics, KFC and Capricorn, are opting to rent a resort exclusively: “We’re very proud that 70 per cent of our Rent-a-Resort clients have booked a subsequent event at Club Med. Unveiling Club Med Guilin
