Cruise and Maritime Voyages today welcomed the cruise ship Magellan to Australia, so for the first time the company has two members of her fleet in Australian waters at the same time. For 12 nights, from February 23 to March 05, 2017, both Astor and Magellan will be visiting ports Down Under.

The 620-passenger premium cruise ship Astor will arrive into Adelaide from her three month home-port in Perth to begin the final stage of her fourth summer based in Australia. At the same time, the 1250 passenger Magellan will be in port in Sydney; her guests enjoying a night in Australia’s iconic harbour city.

Magellan, an adult only ship, departed London on January 5 for her maiden 121-night Round the World cruise. Before arriving in Sydney, guests will have enjoyed visits to ports in the Caribbean, Mexico and the South Pacific islands, as well as taking in the amazing views that the Panama Canal offers. She  boasts two restaurants, plus the more informal Bistro. She also offers comfortable lounge areas, including the two-tier theatre style Show Lounge, and a wide range of other amenities. Out on deck, there are two swimming pools, three whirlpools and expansive public areas.

Magellan will head north from Sydney, visiting some picturesque Queensland ports before heading to South East Asia, enroute back to London.

CMV Australasia & Asia CEO Grant Hunter said that the company will continue to schedule its ships for visits to ports Down Under: “Cruise and Maritime Voyages continues to commit to Australia, because the traditional product we offer resonates with the experienced cruiser,” Mr Hunter said. “They are enjoying the relaxed style of our traditional cruise option and the in-depth itineraries that we provide.

“As well as Astor and Magellan, the 1400 passenger Columbus, the latest addition to our fleet, will also be visiting Sydney and Darwin in early 2018 during her World Cruise. We are already seeing interest in her sectors from Sydney to Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai, as well as from Singapore to Dubai and London.

“CMV has enjoyed a terrific relationship with the Australian cruise-going public since Astor first visited four years ago and we look forward to continuing to grow that relationship.”

Many of Australia’s cruise loving population are already familiar with Astor. She has called Fremantle Port (Western Australia) home for four summers and recently announced that she will be returning for a fifth (2017-18). This year, due to popular demand, she added several itineraries from Adelaide to her schedule.

Some great deals remain for the remainder of the 2016-17 Astor Australian season, which ends on 15 Mar ‘17 when she starts her trek back to the UK and the 2017-18 season is already on sale.

Sector fares are also available on Magellan’s and Columbus’ Round the World journeys.
