Artisanal cocktail club NEO is now open. Located on the Shin Hing steps in NoHo (north of Hollywood Road), and complete with industrial chic interiors, 80s retro neon lighting, and a low-key ambience, it’s an after-work venue for those-in-the know.
With DJs in-house every night, a bar stocked full of independently sourced liquors and a crowd of laidback cocktail sippers, NEO’s official opening has been much anticipated and whispered about on the streets of Sheung Wan. Hidden away on the Shin Hing steps, NEO is a destination for those who like their cocktails with a little added fun. NEO’s starlet, a vintage 80s Playboy pinball machine shipped in from New York, is the perfect evening ice-breaker and a chit-chat conducted on the comfy leather sofas or kooky mismatched stools is the ultimate in after work chilling.
Whilst the interiors are unassuming and low-key, NEO’s cocktails are certainly not shy, with NEO’s individually selected liquors and ingredients that facilitate creativity behind the bar. Already NEO’s cocktail kingpin, the Express Polaroid (HKD110), a smooth blend of ghee buttered dark rum, coffee liqueur, freshly made espresso and tonic reduction syrup, is set to be one of the most playful cocktails in town. In true retro fashion, every Express Polaroidsipper will have their Polaroid picture taken with the cocktail for safe storage of Kodak memories.
NEO’s Mezcal’s Crack Cocktail
Bar bites are on the menu for those who want a nibble to accompany their Mezcal’s Crack (HKD90) a refreshing mix-up of blanco tequila, citrus ginger honey water mescal and mischievous caramel cracklings. Bites include brochettes of Chicken satay (HKD70 for 2) and cheeky homemade Guacamole and Chips (HKD60). One cocktail keen to steal the show is the NEO, Hive (HKD120) a bold mix of white rum, pineapple infused Jamaican overproof rum, dry curaçao, pomegranate and lime, orgeat syrup and citrus, all served shaken with blue-lit ice cubes and a glow stick or two for good measure. Another rising star is the House-Smoked Yoghurt Sour (HKD100), a unique mix of pisco acholado, smoked yoghurt, citrus sugar, bitters and fresh egg white.

With NEO’s unassuming vibes, fun philosophy and innovative cocktails, there’s no place Hong Kongers would rather be this summer than within the scene on the Shin Hing steps with a cooling cocktail. NEO is the ultimate hangout, set to amuse and entertain those looking for something a little out of the box.
