New kid on the trendy St Francis Yard block is Pici, a neighbourhood pasta bar serving up fresh, hand rolled pasta made daily. Set to officially open on 6 February, Pici has the charm of Italy’s bustling local pasta joints. With an approachable and affordable food and drinks menu, Pici is simple yet satisfying with full Italian flavours and character.

Nestled in between the leafy squares and quaint alleyways of Wan Chai’s Sun, Moon and Star streets, St Francis Yard is a tranquil pocket of calm from the city. Pici fits right at home with its bright and airy interiors, warm exposed timber and wooden shutters that open the restaurant out to the street.

The newest restaurant from Pirata Group, Pici keeps with Co-founders Manuel Palacio and Christian Talpo’s ethos of generous portions, value for money and no service charge.

Talented young Italian chef Andrea Viglione heads the open kitchen, where his menu pays homage to the flavour and freshness of quality ingredients. From full-bodied, rich tomato sauces to the precise texture of the al-dente pasta, all dishes are lovingly prepared from scratch. “Forget the stuff you make at home and feel the passion of handmade, hand rolled pasta, made fresh every day. Real, down to earth Italian food as it should be”, says Head Chef Andrea.

“As an Italian, born and bred, I’m always searching for that kick-ass bowl of pasta. Like Italy’s local, family-run pasta bars, Pici serves dishes that are uncomplicated, simple and utterly delicious. At Pici, we invite the neighbourhood to come dine together, over a great bowl of pasta and affordable glass of wine,” Christian Talpo, Co-founder of Pirata Group.

Pici’s approachable one page menu focuses on quality, seasonal ingredients with dishes that are regularly rotated. Pasta from around the different regions of Italy is all freshly made every morning with gluten-free options available on request. The menu also serves a handful of starters and desserts as well as simple Italian cocktails and wine by the glass or carafe.
