This April, COMO Hotel and Resorts will be marking the ‘Songkran’ festivities with a number of packages at Metropolitan Bangkok and Phuket’s Point Yamu.

Also known as the Water Festival, revellers celebrate by throwing water at each other in an attempt to wash away bad luck for the year ahead. This year ‘Songkran’ will take place between April 13th and April 15th.

Metropolitan Bangkok, the city centre property renowned for its contemporary style and award-winning cuisine, is the gateway to the tradition’s exhilarating side with the ‘Songkran Splash’ stay and play package, which includes a complimentary shuttle transfer to Thailand’s largest water splashing event in Silom Road, a short 10-minute drive away. After the excitement of the festival, guests can return to Metropolitan Bangkok to unwind with the ‘Songkran Renewal’ spa and lunch package—the ideal post-festival activity—at COMO Shambhala Urban Escape, the hotel’s holistic wellness centre. Priced at THB 2,800, the treatment comprises a 90-minute massage followed by a healthful COMO Shambhala Cuisine lunch at ‘glow’ restaurant.

For a focus on the culture and history of ‘Songkran’, escape to Point Yamu, COMO’s newest Thai property, located on the tip of Phuket’s Cape Yamu. With the ‘Songkran Island Discovery’ package, the day begins with a presentation of food to monks before a blessing ceremony. A drum parade follows, then a Buddha cleansing ceremony in the courtyard. In the afternoon the hotel takes guests on a visit to a local temple, where they can view the religious traditions of ‘Songkran’. Point Yamu also offers the chance to experience a street water splashing festival, providing transport by bus to the largest event in Phuket, in Sapan Hin. In the evening, guests can dine at Point Yamu’s signature Thai restaurant ‘Nahmyaa’ and enjoy a special ‘Songkran’ New Year dinner, with entertainment by traditional Thai dancers and khim music.

The Metropolitan Bangkok ‘Songkran Splash’ package, which also includes breakfast for two, a THB 1,000 gift voucher for COMO Shambhala Urban Escape and a signature drink for two at the Met Bar, is priced at THB 4,500 per room per night, based on a stay in a City Room. Point Yamu’s ‘Songkran Island Discovery’ package, priced at THB 12,000 per room per night in a Verandah Room, includes breakfast for two and THB 5,555 resort credits per day, to be spent on food, beverages or spa treatments. Guest on both packages will receive two ‘Songkran’ water guns per room to be used at the water splashing festivals. The packages are only available on stays between April 11th and April 16th. Prices are subject to government taxes and service charge.
