The building of the Conservatorium was originally designed by the Dutch architect Daniel Knuttel as the Rijkspostspaarbank and sparked the regeneration of the Museum Quarter at the end of the 19th century. In the 1980s the building became the home of the newly formed Sweelinck Conservatorium which outgrew its home in 2008 and relocated to its current location. In 2008, The Set Hotels purchased this wonderful building, attracted by its glorious past. In a vision to restore its former beauty, award winning Milan-based designer Piero Lissoni guided the creation of the hotel, whose rich historical narrative is woven with utmost care into its very fabric. The Conservatorium’s history has ensured it is once again on the pulse of the city’s cultural and architectural heartbeat.

The package includes a three-night stay in the I Amsterdam Suite including breakfast in the Brasserie or in the intimacy of your suite, a bottle of Champagne upon arrival, a copy of #59 Magazine Conservatorium anniversary edition, a private transfer by Bentley to and from the airport, the big five activities in Amsterdam, a private lunch with the Conservatorium’s General Manager, Roy Tomassen, private butler service during your stay, the five steps to perfection treatment in Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre for two persons, an 8-course Omakase menu in Taiko restaurant including wine or sake pairing and a late check-out at 4pm.

The big five activities in Amsterdam are carefully selected by the host department of the Conservatorium. The host department comprises of a team of knowledgeable and local friends in Amsterdam. The activities include a private canal boat tour with Michelin star bites – enjoy the wonderful scenery of Amsterdam from the canals while enjoying Michelin star bites to ensure an unforgettable memory of this city on the water; a private guided tour at the Van Gogh Museum – discover the works of Van Gogh and let one of the experienced guides take you on a magical tour through the museum that has been founded in 1962; a helicopter tour above Amsterdam – catch a bird’s eye view of Amsterdam and discover the old structure and new architectural additions to this 700 year old city; a tour with one of Conservatorium’s cultural ambassadors – go on a tour with one of the hotel’s cultural ambassadors and visit the most hidden treasures of Amsterdam, such as designer studios and creative spaces that rarely open to the public; and lastly visit the A’DAM lookout skyline experience – an unrivalled panoramic view of Amsterdam where the city’s historical centre, its pulsating port and the unique Dutch polder landscape are to be seen.

The Conservatorium’s ‘Big Five Package’ will be available from 1 January until 31 December 2017, and costs €11.555 inclusive of VAT, exclusive of 5% city tax, subject to availability.
