The Discovery Vista Structure of the Glacier Skywalk, in the Canadian province of Alberta, is now complete, with this incredible experience on track to open in May 2014.

The Glacier Skywalk, developed by Brewster Travel Canada, will be a world-class fully-accessible experience in Jasper National Park, engaging visitors to learn about glaciology, geology, and the unique ecosystem of the Columbia Icefield area.

“This incredible innovation will provide a front row seat to nature’s most grand performance, from ice-capped mountain peaks to vast glacier-formed valleys,” said Michael Hannan, President, Brewster Travel Canada. “The successful installation of the Skywalk Discovery Vista, towering 280 metres over the Sunwapta Valley, was a monumental step in the construction of this incredible venture.”

“The vision behind the Glacier Skywalk’s design was simple: depend on the natural environment, draw inspiration from it, and integrate with it,” said Hannan.

The Glacier Skywalk experience will begin with a five minute scenic transfer by coach from the Glacier Discovery Centre, after which visitors can journey along the Discovery Trail; a fully-accessible, cliff-edge walkway that extends along the Sunwapta Valley.

The cliff-edge walkway leads to a glass-floored observation platform 280 metres above the Sunwapta Valley, where a bird’s eye view provides the most unique perspective of nature at its finest.

This entire journey is presented in an interpretive story-telling format, bound to leave visitors with a new appreciation for one of the most unique ecosystems in the world – a place that’s so hard to survive, adaptation never ends.

“Look down and you’ll see hints from life thousands of years ago; look up and you’ll see the most stunning mountain and glacial vistas,” said Hannan. “The Glacier Skywalk will take visitors to Jasper National Park beyond nature’s edge.”
