From climbing Machu Picchu to ziplining through the rainforest canopy in Guatemala or white-water rafting in Costa Rica, Contiki’s 2015-17 Latin America brochure is designed for the new millennial traveller in mind. Both informed and discriminating they want exclusive, unique adventures that allow them to get local and have authentic experiences, but they don’t particularly want to ‘rough it’ the way youth travellers were happy to in generations past.unnamed (11)

To make sure millennial travellers have everything they need for the perfect Latin America travel experience, Contiki has developed three golden rules that underpin their program offerings:

  1. Internal flights are included (nobody wants to waste time getting from A to B)
  2. Centrally located quality accommodation – whether a slick hotel in Rio de Janiero or a Costa Rican Eco Lodge – because at the end of a long day hiking Machu Picchu or exploring Rio’s favelas any traveller is exhausted, no matter their age
  3. Plenty of good food including breakfast every day and lots of included local dinner experiences like an Argentinean Tango dinner and show, an epic Brazilian BBQ and amazingly fresh ceviche in Peru

“Latin America has been a great success since its launch in 2011 and is continuing incremental growth. We’re regularly updating our existing program offering to make sure the constantly changing needs of young travellers are met in terms of what they want to experience and how they want to travel and stay,” said Katrina Barry, Managing Director, Contiki Australia.

“Latin America has huge appeal for young travellers due to the vibrancy and festival-spirit of cities like Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, but also increasingly the opportunity to explore and experience less-known destinations like Belize, Guatemala and Ecuador, which offer a mix of culture, adventure and epic landscapes,” Barry continued.

Contiki’s program also includes a new eight-day Ultimate Inca adventure with an added four-day Inca Trail trek as a part of this eight-day trip starting and ending in Cusco. Due to the high demand and restricted amount of Inca Trail permits issued each day Contiki has created a special ‘flexible itinerary’, where the days of the trek may vary, to ensure the group can travel together.

With 5 very different yet equally thrilling ways to travel Latin America, Contiki’s offering is as strong as it is diverse, catering to a discerning and picky millennial audience while maintaining its heritage of the best of the best in local authenticity and included bucket-list activities that give traveller’s the life memories they crave.
