“Cook up a Storm” Hosts Press Conference at Studio City Macau Nicolas Tse and Jung Yong Hwa Headline Battle of Cuisines “King of Chef” Anthony Wong Joins the Cast to Rival “King of Flavors” Ge You
The first ever 4D Chinese food movie “Cook up a Storm” wrapped up its Foshan scenes last month. The cast and crew swiftly moved on to Studio City in Macau, Asia’s Entertainment Capital, to continue its shooting. Just a few days ago, “Cook up a Storm” held a press conference titled “The Food Lovers’ Expedition to Studio City”, further living out the spirit of cuisine.
Director Raymond Yip, along with the main cast Ge You, Nicholas Tse, Tiffany Tang Yan, Jung Yong Hwa and Michelle Bai, made appearance at the event. The director also announced that Anthony Wong, who appeared as a special guest at the conference, has officially joined the cast. The renowned celebrity chefs from Studio City, Dr. Albert Yeung Sau Shing, President of EEG; Mr. Zeng Mao Jun, Vice President of Beijing Wanda Culture Industry Group, Executive Director and President of Wanda Cinema Line Corp; Mr. Zhao Feng, Senior Vice President of Beijing Wanda Culture Industry Group, General Manager of Wanda Media Co.; Miss Mani Fok, Executive Producer of the movie; and Mr. Manfred Wong, Producer of the movie, were all present at the press conference.
Michelin-starred restaurant chefs teamed up with Tse and Jung for a showdown between Chinese and Western cuisines
In “Cook up a Storm”, Ge You, Nicholas Tse and Tiffany Tang Yan run a Chinese restaurant named “Qi’s”. Jung Yong Hwa and Michelle Bai, Michelin-starred restaurant chefs returning to China from overseas, open a high end Western style restaurant right across the street from Qi’s, sparking a rivalry between Chinese and Western cuisines. During this press conference, they took this rivalry to whole new level when Tse and Jung teamed up with Studio City’s Chinese and Western celebrity chefs for a cooking showdown with live seafood.
Nicholas Tse and Jung Yong Hwa even volunteered to catch some fishes. Risking getting all wet, they caught the freshest fishes and Alaskan king crabs with bare hands from the seafood tank. After a series of preparation and cooking, both teams presented amazing seafood dishes in their respective styles, making the guests drool all over the place and get a taste of the charm of this 4D food movie.
“King of Chefs” Anthony Wong vs “King of Flavors” Ge You, only in the movie
“Cook up a Storm” officially welcomed Anthony Wong, the multiple award-winning actor, to join the star-studded cast! Even though detail about his role was kept a secret, Wong was referred to as “The King of Chefs” at the press conference. Ge You also leaked that the characters they played in the movie are long-time friends who had “some not so usual history”. Wong shared that he had opportunities to show off his cooking skill in the movie and did a few wonderful scenes with Ge You and Nicolas Tse, “In real life I cook too. So it is good to get to learn from the others. I guarantee you that this will be a fun and delicious movie.”
After the conference, Studio City served up the Studio City Mega Burger “Storm” as a present to the cast and crew, representing a special wish for the movie to become a huge hit at box-office. Like the movie, the Studio City Mega Burger “Storm” is made of star-studded ingredients, which include Prime Cut Iberico Pork Collar from Pearl Dragon, Signature Drunken Chicken from Shanghai Magic, and the Chef’s special sauces – a bold and creative combination that impressed everybody. The Southeast Asian style side dishes symbolize the movie’s upcoming big success all over Southeast Asia.
