Coral Expeditions, Australia’s pioneering cruise line, has launched a new brochure for their 2018 Kimberley and Cape York & Arnhem Land sailings.

The 2018 Kimberley season will mark 20 years of expedition cruising in this region. Since pioneering extended overnight cruises on the rugged Kimberley coastline, Coral Expeditions has accumulated infinite expertise and knows this spectacular region better the most.

The Cape York & Arnhem Land itineraries incorporate Coral Expeditions signature Great Barrier Reef experiences, which they established over 35 years ago, and brings guests to one of Australia’s most remote regions, much of which is only accessible by ship.

Remaining true to their small ship expedition origins, Coral Expeditions offers guests the choice between the Coral Expeditions 1, holding just 44 passengers, and the multi-million dollar refurbished Coral Discoverer which caters for 72 passengers.

The 10 night Kimberley sailings showcase the ancient beauty, dramatic landscapes and rich cultures of the Kimberley region, with highlights including; The Horizontal Falls, King George Falls, sacred Gwion Gwion Rock Art, witnessing the Montgomery Reef rise out the water with the falling tide and wildlife sightings featuring humpback whales, green and sea turtles, crocodiles and rock wallabies.  Guests can also add on a scenic flight over the Mitchell falls to take in the scenery from above.

The 11 or 12-night Cape York & Arnhem Land itineraries offer guests a unique insight into ancient indigenous cultures on a highly enriching expedition that combines art, history and culture with spectacular natural attractions. Highlights include; experiencing the vibrant culture of the Tiwi people at Bathurst Island, exploring the rugged Coburg Peninsula, learning about indigenous art at Elcho Island and Maningrida art centres, standing on the northernmost tip of Australia at Cape York for a champagne sunrise, snorkelling at some the Great Barrier’s Reef most pristine and vibrant sites, exploring Thursday Island and cultures of the Torres Strait islands, and visiting the highly regarded Lizard Island Research Station to get up close and personal with the turtles.

Leading daily expeditions on the Xplorer tender and Zodiac vessels, guests are guided through these untamed regions by an expert team that includes specialised guest lecturers with deep knowledge and expertise of geology, history and ecology. The expedition team is supported by an all Australian team of staff who offer a superb service with plenty of personal touches.

The 10, 11 and 12 itineraries depart regularly between March to October 2018. Cape York sailings depart from Cairns with disembarkation in Darwin whilst the Kimberley itineraries run between Darwin and Broome (v.v). Prices start from $8,290 per person.
