Coral Expeditions recently hosted an educational sailing for a diverse group of Australian domestic travel agents, managers and business owners on their immersive 3-night Great Barrier Reef cruise departing from Cairns.
The group included representatives from; Sorrento Travel & Cruise, Flower Travel, South Coast Cruise & Travel, Flight Centre Woollahra, Cruise Marketing Group, Travel Redcliffe Peninsula, Fusion Holidays, Northshore Travel and Helloworld Atherton, Ipswich and Capalaba.
Over the 3-night duration of the cruise, some of the highlights from this trip were sunset drinks at Sudbury Sand Cay, exploring the marine playground of Nathan and Thetford Reef, visiting the tropical paradise of Pelorus Island, an alfresco breakfast on the sundeck whilst cruising the Hinchinbrook Channel, a rainforest walk on Dunk island followed by sunset sippers and Kilpatrick Oysters on Wheeler Island later that day. The trip was finished off with a morning on Fitzroy island visiting the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre and snorkelling in coral gardens. A very nice way to start a Monday morning indeed.
Aside from some very friendly and curious turtles that joined a snorkelling excursion a particularly magical moment came from one of the Coral Expeditions crew. The Engineer on-board, Brayden, proposed to his girlfriend of 6 years during a stunning Sudbury Sand Cay sunset, the pair met in Darwin in 2010. The Engineer tricked his girlfriend in to accompanying him to the sand cay to set up the chairs before the guests were transferred over. It was a big surprise for all aboard and love was certainly in the air. Of course, she said ‘Yes’.
This well timed sailing definitely led to lots of long term relationships in a perfect mix of business and pleasure.
