With the cream of the Cornish Tourism Industry gathered together in Truro Cathedral for the 2018 Cornwall Tourism Awards last week, the Pentillie Castle Team were delighted to scoop Gold, in the ‘Business Tourism and Venue’ category.

“We are thrilled to win this award as it reflects the vision and efforts of all of the team at Pentillie who have worked very hard throughout this year to create a truly special place for events and business conferencing in South East Cornwall,” said Pentillie’s Sammie Coryton.

The Cornwall Tourism Award judges not only made visits to each attraction but also looked at all aspects of the business, such as online presence, accessibility and green credentials as part of the judging process. To be amongst the winners was a very significant achievement indeed. They were joined as finalists by Carbis Bay Hotel and the award was sponsored by Christie & Co.

After a black-tie dinner and plenty of nail biting, Pentillie was named ‘Business Tourism and Venue of The Year’ 2018/19. Sammie Coryton and Letty Greenfield took to the stage to accept the award from the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

Another Pentillie success story, Letty has been working for Pentillie for five years now studies Creative Events Management at Falmouth University while also working for Pentillie 3-4 days a week.

Pentillie has built an outstanding reputation as a five star B&B, wedding and events venue. Situated on the banks of the River Tamar in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it sleeps 18 people and offers a wide range of activities from shooting to wild suppers to open garden days and retreats.

Events like Devon and Cornwall’s biggest BBQ festival, PenGrillie and its Pentillie Defender Day have become hugely successful ‘must-dos’ in the South West’s tourism events calendar. And recently Pentillie also launched a conferencing and business facility, hosting events for Devon and Cornwall Police, the Devon Chamber of Commerce and many others.

Pentillie has also been making a name for itself recently as the filming location for the real Penrose Hotel in Sky One’s hit show Delicious starring Dawn French and Emilia Fox.

Visitors to Pentillie this week are being treated to McVities GOLD bar in their room honour of the win…
