Costa Rica may be known for its lush rainforests, towering peaks and winding rivers, but the country is increasingly becoming known as the premier destination for meetings, conventions and incentive groups in Central America.

According to the International Congress and Conventions Association (ICCA), Costa Rica ranked 11th in number of meetings in a Latin American country in the association’s yearly rankings. Its capital city, San Jose, is ranked 20, the second-highest-ranked Central American city.

To celebrate this achievement and to introduce meeting planners to the country’s wide range of meetings and incentives offerings, the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) and the Costa Rica Conventions Bureau will be attending IMEX Frankfurt, May 19 – 21, 2015. The expo, which is now in its fifteenth consecutive year, is expected to gather 3,500 companies from 150 countries.

“Costa Rica is raising the bar for excellence in the meetings, conventions and incentives category for Central America,” said Pablo Solano, executive director of the Costa Rica Convention Bureau. “We look forward to showing the more than 9,000 attendees why Costa Rica is the best place in Latin America to host a meeting or incentive group.”

Costa Rica offers high standards for one-of-a-kind meetings, conventions and events. The destination offers modern facilities that accommodate everything from executive retreats and special interest groups to incentive travel and corporate meetings with first-class service. The nation’s extensive international airlift also provides easy access for business travelers from around the world.

“With its high-quality services and wide varieties of attractions it is the ideal destination for the new “bleisure” trend, combining business and leisure,” said Costa Rica Minister of Tourism Mauricio Ventura Aragon. “Business travelers and meeting attendees are able to extend their stays and bring loved ones to share in memorable experiences that will last a lifetime.”
