CPG Hotels to Manage First Two Mgallery By Sofitel Hotels in Auckland

CPG Hotels has entered into franchise agreements with AccorHotels for its refurbished Hotel Grand Windsor on Queen Street and its new Eden Crescent Hotel. These properties will both be branded MGallery by Sofitel and will be managed by CPG Hotels, the in-house hotel chain of CP Group, the largest hotel owner in Auckland and New Zealand. Hotel Grand Windsor, which is nearing the end of its refurbishment, will be known as Hotel Grand Windsor MGallery by Sofitel from October 2017 and Eden Crescent Hotel is set to open in late 2018.

Hotel Grand Windsor is a heritage building at 58-60 Queen Street next door to Louis Vuitton dates from 1928. It is also perfectly located to take advantage of Auckland’s downtown business district, luxury retail shops, waterfront and Britomart precincts, all of which are key features for for corporate and leisure visitors to Auckland.

With its blend of classical and art deco design, the revamped Hotel Grand Windsor will cater for those looking for the ultimate in boutique hotel experiences. An investment of over $9 million has been spent on the refurbishment covering all areas of the hotel.

Guests will enjoy exquisitely appointed rooms which are comprised of 69 rooms and 10 suites over eight levels of the hotel, with all rooms reflecting a gemstone inspired by one of the world’s famous jewellery collections.  The completed hotel will also include a restaurant, bar, lobby lounge, spa and jacuzzi, meeting facilities, a wellness centre including a gym and beauty spa.

Eden Crescent Hotel is located at 10 Eden Crescent in the Auckland CDB, next to Shortland Street. This heritage building will offer another boutique property containing 91 rooms, restaurant and bar, meeting facilities, swimming pool, wellness centre, and a spa.  Refurbishment of this property is due to commence in 2017 and be completed in late 2018.    Eden Crescent Hotel will appeal to both the business and leisure traveller. The building from which the hotel is being converted is an office building that was originally built in 1860 and operated as the Royal Hotel, well known for its elegance and style. What remains today is the charming seven storey extension to the Royal Hotel built in 1912, by then known as the Cargen Hotel, which welcomed guests up until 1950.

CPG Hotels’ group operations manager Ronnie Ronalde, a longstanding icon of the New Zealand hotel industry, is thrilled that Auckland will soon have two new boutique hotels catering to the increasing visitor numbers looking for a personalised five-star experience.
