Cunard Cruise Lines recently invited TravelManagers’ personal travel managers Judy Gillings representative for Bateau Bay in New South Wales and Queensland’s Gina Passfield representative for Bloomsbury to experience two nights aboard MS Queen Victoria as she sailed from Sydney to Melbourne.

For cruise specialist Gillings it was her first time experiencing a Cunard cruise ship sailing and the traditional cruising style of MS Queen Victoria certainly lived up to all expectations.

“Just the name Queen Victoria conjures up images of traditional English style, a true luxury ocean liner offering elegance, opulence and old world charm. This is exactly what you experience aboard the Queen Victoria, grand luxury at an affordable price. It truly is a wonderful cruise option for the more mature aged traveller who enjoys the formal night dressing and a more upmarket feel about their cruise experience.”

The personal travel managers experienced an informal training session during the cruise however it was the opportunity to experience the cruise just as their clients would that proved most beneficial.

“Having the ability to experience the ship first-hand makes all the difference.  Being able to talk confidently about my cruise experiences with passion and knowledge gained about personally experiencing the facilities and on-board amenities, along with sharing my own photos gives my clients absolute confidence in me,” says Passfield.

An outstanding highlight of the cruise for both Gillings and Passfield was experiencing a truly wonderful formal night of luxury.

“The formal nights are just that – formal. It was so wonderful to experience a night of true luxury, a great excuse to get all dressed up and indulge in an incredible dining experience complete with fine wines. To see the passengers dressed in their finest is really something and fits so perfectly with the charm and ambience aboard Queen Victoria,” says Gillings.

For Passfield it was the ballroom dancing that also captivated her.

“I loved the ballroom dancing in the evening, it just adds to the luxury of the entire experience and to an enjoyable evening.  I especially loved the option of offering dance hosts, such an excellent idea.”

The personal travel managers were certainly spoilt with dining choice.

“Dining options are endless and no matter what time of the day or night you feel hungry there will be something available. It is important to note though that there is a two-tier dining option in the evening depending on where your cabin is located. The Britannia Restaurant, Princess and Queens Grill offer exclusive dining for those staying in the higher Suite categories. I can highly recommend the degustation dinner in the Verandah Restaurant.  An unforgettable culinary experience for our last night and definitely worth having a small lunch to ensure every morsel was appreciated,” says Gillings.

TravelManagers’ recognize the significant contribution home-based consultants make to the cruise sector and the need for ongoing education.
