CruiseAway to make cruisers’ captains

Australia’s premier online cruise travel agent CruiseAway now exclusively offers the world’s first ‘Be your own captain’ cruise.

In a new cooperation with Fantasea Cruise Lines, cruisers’ now have the chance to lead a voyage as captain, for which the selection process begins today.

The first ever ‘Be your own captain’ cruise on board Fantasea Cruise Lines’ MS Dreamon is completely free of charge and includes a salary of $1,000.

To apply, potential captains must first fill out an online questionnaire. A panel of cruise experts will then invite 15 finalists to a cruise industry assessment centre on the Gold Coast.

Once the winner is selected, he/she will have the opportunity to fly with up to five friends to Miami, Florida to receive a week’s intensive training on board the MS Dreamon.

The new captain can then choose one of three 7-night Caribbean cruise itineraries, which will be bookable by regular passengers in just a few weeks.

Fantasea Cruise Lines managing director Pieno Khjo said he was thrilled that after months of planning, the revolutionary concept has come to fruition.

“When we came up with the idea of this extraordinary opportunity, everyone involved was so excited,” Mr Khjo said.

CruiseAway managing director Alastair Fernie continued: “I am very proud to be able to offer this world-class opportunity exclusively through CruiseAway, and am looking forward to meeting the top applicants at the assessment centre here in on the Gold Coast.”
