Cruiseco, the leading provider of cruising options in Australia and New Zealand, is delighted to announce its partnership with Hands Across the Water, an Australian charity providing a safe, caring and educational environment for at risk children across Thailand.

Hands Across the Water was founded by Peter Baines, a former Australian Police Forensics Specialist to assist orphaned children following the devastation of the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.  With initially 32 children in its care, Hands Across the Water has now expanded to support almost 300 children across Thailand, with seven locations from Khao Lak to Chanthaburi.

Steve Lloyd, CEO of Cruiseco, says:

“Cruiseco provides travel experiences to thousands of passengers every year to explore, discover and learn.  This comes with a social responsibility to assist those who are less fortunate.  Cruiseco’s vision for its partnership with Hands Across the Water is to help enrich the lives of these children with education and opportunities.”

As a part of its partnership with Hands Across the Water, Cruiseco has committed to the construction of a nursery at the Baan Tharn Namchai orphanage, the charity’s first location in Khao Lak, situated 80km north of Phuket.  With the orphanage growing substantially over the years, children aged between 0 – 5, now require their own space to play, grow and learn.  Cruiseco, with the help of its passengers, cruise line partners and Travel Agent members aim to raise the funds to build this enhancement.

Peter Baines, Founder of Hands Across the Water says:

“Our mission is to provide ‘at risk’ children with a safe, caring and educational environment, allowing them to learn and expand their opportunities, empowering them to unite with their community, and lead happy, healthy and productive lives.”

“All our projects, both large and small, are tailored to meet the local communities’ needs and promote long term improvements to provide them with a brighter future.  We remain absolutely committed to ensuring that every cent donated is used to enhance the lives of the children, with 0% of the funds going towards administration or fundraising costs.”

From 1 December, 2015, a small optional donation will be added to every Cruiseco booking.  To see more of Hands Across the Water visit, http://bit.ly/1X1Xauk, or, to make a donation, visit  http://www.cruising.com.au/hands or call (02) 9492 8520.
