Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao Extends Award-Winning Chinese Restaurant Chain to Kowloon Bay

Multi-award winning casual Chinese restaurant chain Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao has opened its 14th Hong Kong outlet in Telford Plaza, Kowloon Bay. With a brand new look and exciting new specialties, the 98-seat venue at Shop G53A, Telford Plaza I extends the brand’s fast-growing presence in shopping malls from Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories to Hong Kong International Airport.

In Telford Plaza, Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao continues its winning ‘value for money’ recipe, specialising in traditional Beijing, Sichuan and Shanghai cuisine with modern presentation highlighting less salt, sugar and oil, headlined by beloved, hand-made Lanzhou ‘La Mian’ noodles, famous Shanghai ‘Xiao Long Bao’ dumplings. Continuing the brand’s success, the new outlet also celebrates its opening with an array of exclusive dishes and special offers for gourmets to discover.

Exclusive new specialties include Multi-flavoured Dumplings (HK$40) – ‘Jiaozi’, with a contemporary twist, combining fresh pork with either French beans, cheese or kimchi, presented in three distinct colours, and also the brand’s eponymous handcrafted Multi-Flavoured ‘Xiao Long Bao’ (HK$68) dumplings, famed for their entirely natural ingredients and variations from traditional pork filling. Four new variations on the original, award-winning Crystal Jade Multi-Flavoured ‘Xiao Long Bao’with eight flavours include spicy beef, black truffle, French beans and cheese.

Also unique to the Telford Plaza menu is the new appetiser Braised Vegetarian Chicken with Soy Sauce (HK$56); a range of delectable dishes including Pan-Fried Bun with Minced Beef (HK$39); La Mian with Sliced Sea Bass and Pickled Mustard Green (HK$72); Curry Beef Soup with Vermicelli (HK$48); and the Soufflé Egg White Ball Stuffed with Red Bean & Bananadessert (HK$38).

New offers also include Pu’er and Oolong tea for guests’ selection – along with a novel Gelato ice-cream created as a crossover with popular ice-cream brand “Lab Made”, and Steamed Red Glutinous Rice (HK$32) dessert, incorporating Crystal Jade’s eight signature dessert ingredients, including dried mango, wolfberries, red beans, red dates and osmanthus syrup.

Especially designed for smaller groups to savour, guests can also select a smaller combination of three appetisers for just HK$88, with choices including: Drunken Chicken, Chilled Szechuan-style Poached Chicken, Shredded Chicken & Bean Starch Sheets in Sesame Sauce, Zhenjiang-style Chilled Pork Jelly, Chilled Cucumber tossed with Minced Garlic, Braised Vegetarian Chicken with Soy Sauce, Hot & Sour Seaweed Salad, and Chilled Black Fungus tossed in Aged Vinegar.

The brand’s acclaimed Lanzhou hand-pulled ‘La Mian’ noodles also has a special place on the menu. Crytal Jade’s La Mian Masters are preparing eight different variations of La Mian on the spot for customers, including Double Width, Hand Teared,Triangle, Double Line, Dragon Beard, Hand Sliced, Broad and Flat at Telford Plaza, as well as other selected outlets.

Brand new vegan dishes are also introduced, including: Szechuan Dan Dan La Mian with Peanut Sauce and Chilli Oil (HK$56),More than Fried Rice (HK$85), Braised Eggplant in Special Sauce (HK$48) and Sautéed Green Soybean with Beancurd Sheet & Preserved Vegetable (HK$68), providing a healthy alternative for guests.

Signature dishes meanwhile remain faithful to both traditional and contemporary recipes that have earned the brand widespread acclaim for its high quality cuisine with reasonable price, including its seven consecutive year ‘Bib Gourmand’ recognition for “quality, excellent value for money” since 2009 in the Hong Kong & Macau MICHELIN Guide, and Gold with Distinction accolade in the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s 2013 Best of the Best Culinary Awards for its Crystal Jade Multi-Flavoured ‘Xiao Long Bao’ with eight flavours.

Among signature favourites are appetisers such as Sweet & Sour Cucumber Skin Roll (HK$48) and Crispy Beancurd Sheet wrapped with Assorted Mushroom (HK$56); dim sum including Deep-fried Radish Rastry (HK$38) and Pork Wonton with Hot Chilli Vinaigrette (HK$48); and handmade La Mian versions like Szechuan Dan Dan La Mian with peanut and Chilli Oil(HK$56). Ever-popular main courses include Sautéed Prawn in Chilli Sauce (HK$128), Deep-fried Mandarin Fish in Sweet & Sour Sauce with Pine Nuts (HK$188) and Braised Pork with Dried Beancurd Sheet (HK$80), and the much praised dessert Pan-fried Pancake with Red Date (HK$46).

Distinctive new interior design by renowned designer Alex Choi is also introduced at the new 2,400 sq ft restaurant in booming Kowloon Bay, with a light colour scheme brightening the brand’s traditional earth-tone design, bringing a vibrant dining atmosphere with a distinctly modern twist. Subtle design details also pay homage to Crystal Jade’s oriental roots and the spirit of the brand, including French red marble and jade marble that are incorporated into the entry façade.
