Cunard Line Travel Agent partners stepped out in style and joined more than 3,000 of the top figures in politics and entertainment at the 17th Annual Human Rights Campaign (HRC) National Gala Dinner in Washington, D.C., this past weekend.

Joining the evening were Brenda Hunsberger and Patti Boote of AAA Midatlantic, and Bob Rose of Cruise Holidays of Alexandria and his guest, David Johnson.

Cunard Line has been a Bronze National Sponsor of HRC for the third consecutive year, making it possible for the evening’s attendees to bid in a live fund-raising auction for the chance to sail a Transatlantic Crossing aboard flagship Queen Mary 2.  To date, Cunard cruise donations have raised more than $100,000 for HRC.

The annual black-tie event, hosted by the largest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender advocacy group in America, was held at the convention center in Washington, D.C.  Among the celebrities and dignitaries in attendance were actress and singer Jennifer Lopez, who was honored with HRC’s 2013 National Ally for Equality Award; and singer Sara Bareilles, who performed at the dinner.  In addition, President Barack Obama delivered a surprise keynote address via live stream in place of Vice President Joe Biden, who was unable to attend due to the government shutdown.

“Cunard Line has been a wonderful supporter of HRC over the years through its cruise donations for our live auction fund-raisers, and we’re thrilled they’ve come on board for its third year as a Bronze National Sponsor,” said John Lake, director of corporate development for HRC.

“We are proud of our partnership with HRC and are honored to be part of the festivities at their prestigious National Dinner,” said Stanley Birge, vice president of Cunard Line, North America.  “We look forward to supporting the organization through sponsorship of additional regional HRC events in the coming months.”

Transatlantic Crossings aboard Queen Mary 2 offer time to leisurely explore the ship’s extensive on board amenities and activities, including sumptuous dining at a variety of venues; lectures through the award-winning Cunard Insights enrichment programme; stargazing in the only planetarium at sea; white-gloved afternoon tea service or a spin around the dance floor during a Royal Nights themed ball in the Queens Room; taking in a performance or acting workshop by members of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art; or perusing 8,000 volumes in the largest library at sea.
