World’s Most Expansive Search Engine for Bicycle Tours – Over 5500 Cycle Tours in 104 Countries

A downhill ride through the Himalayas, an uphill challenge along the Tour De France route in the French Alps and an easy ramble through the autumn foliage of Korea are mong new bicycle tours added to the Australian website, Cycle Tours Global, a free search engine for the world’s best tours on two wheels.

Annapurna Cycling - Snowy Horizon Adventure Downhill in the Himalayas

Added to the 5500 ‘wind-in-your-hair’ bike tours in 104 countries already featured on www.cycletoursglobal.com, the 10-day ‘Annapurna Fun Ride’ is run by Snowy Horizon Adventure and is rated as easy to moderate, with almost the entire route taking riders downhill from the alpine meadows of the Himalayas to the lowland jungles of Nepal, covering far more territory than trekking trips.

Departing every Saturday from Kathmandu from September 14 to November 16, 2013, and from March 1 to May 16, 2014, the round-trip from Kathmandu  starts with a short flight to Jomson (2800m) from where guests will ride through Buddhist villages and down through the deepest valley on Earth in between the 8000m-plus peaks of Annapurna and Dhalagiri. A flight from Pokhara back to Kathmandu ends the adventure.

Including mountain bike hire, lodge accommodation, all meals on the bike expedition, B&B accommodation in Kathmandu, a farewell dinner and two flights within Nepal, the package is priced from A$2200 per person, twin-share. Flights to Kathmandu are extra. Visit www.cycletoursglobal.com.

Uphill  in the French Alps

Also new on the Cycle Tours Global site is a challenging, seven-day ‘Classic Climbs of the French Alps’ tour suited to avid and able riders keen to follow many of the famous climbs that feature in the world’s greatest bike race, the Tour de France.

Operating during the European summer from June to September, 2014, the round-trip itinerary from the ski resort of Meribel will offer riders a selection of famous mountain climbs in the northern and central French Alps, including legendary routes such as the Alpe d’Huez, Col du Galibier, Col de la Madeleine, Col de la Forclaz, Cormet de Roselend, Col des Aravis and Petit Saint-Bernard.

Each day’s ride is guided and trailed by a support vehicle offering drinks, snacks and a comfortable seat if the going gets too tough, although the tour operator promises pedallers will be singing ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough’ at the end of the week. The seven-day trip from Classic Cycling Tours is priced from £599 per person (about A$1021 as of early September, 2013), twin-share, including chalet accommodation, daily breakfasts, afternoon teas and snacks and dinners. Flights, bike hire (or BYO) and lunches are extra. Visit www.cycletoursglobal.com.

Autumn Ramble in Korea

This special new, nine-day cultural tour, departing Seoul in South Korea on October 26, 2013, is an easy to moderate ramble through South Korea timed to coincide with the stunning autumn colours of the northern fall. Riders will visit temples and villages and spend each night in a hanok, a traditional Korean house with floor mattress bedding. Run by Bike Beyond Boundaries, the ‘Autumn Fall Foliage’ tour is available from US$2307 per person (about A$2590 as of early September, 2013), twin-share, including accommodation, 20 meals, bike hire and attraction entry tickets.
