For the first time, Danang City will host the Light and Visual Art Contest 2014 on 26 and 27 April 2014.

Four or five domestic and foreign teams will present their creativity through illumination displays with music on the backdrop. Especially, the city will invite David Atkins Enterprises, a company who successfully organized world famous events such as Olympic Sydney 2000 and 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, to be organization’s consultant. Additionally, many supporting activities such as dancing and music performances, visual arts exhibitions, gala dinner… will also be presented during this event. According to experts, Danang’s higher areas such as Son Tra, Hai Van Pass and Ngu Hanh Son Mountain are ideal landscapes to showcase stunning lights.

Actually, this is not the first time Danang hosts this kind of activities. Since 2008, the city’s International Fireworks Competition has been taken place annually. In 2013, on the occasion of the 6th edition, DIFC was announced to become a biennale event. In fact, the city authorities will organize the Light and Visual Art contest every two years on the last Saturday and Sunday of April in even-numbered years, whilst the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition will take place in the odd-numbered years from 2013”.

Mr Duc Quynh Nguyen, Executive Assistant Manager of Furama Resort Danang, says: “Thanks to the exciting activities and festivals, in addition to a variety of entertainment, shopping, delicious local foods, that contribute a lot to the city’s tourism success. With the ideal location and the city’s experience in tourism sector, Danang has been on the right way to be a tourist hub in the central of Vietnam”.

With 400.000 tourists to visit the city during the last DIFC in 2013, (about ten times more than in 2008, when the first DIFC was held), Danang expects to attract more tourists  by promoting nearly 40 major cultural, sports and tourism annually.
