More than 60 Canadian travel specialists were on hand at the Prince George Hotel to hear the announcement from Destination Canada’s Australian team, Donna Campbell and Nathan McLoughlin.

The roadshow will kick off in Brisbane for an evening trade event on 5 February, 2019, in Melbourne on 6 (evening trade) and 7, (media lunch) possibly Adelaide on 11 (evening trade) depending on partner numbers, Sydney 12 (evening trade) 13 B2B event, and 14 (media lunch).

The registration deadline is August 31, 2018 at

The presentation was on day one of the Rendez-vous Canada (RVC) travel and tour extravaganza which boasts a record 1800 delegates in the multi-level new Conference Centre in the centre of the Halifax CBD. Buyers, sellers and media from around the world joined Canadian destination presenters and representatives from all the Destination Canada markets for a meet and greet dinner at The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. Feeding and fuelling such a number is a huge logistical undertaking and the catering was excellent.

One of the stalwarts of RVC is former Australian Jillian Francis.  Jillian has attended 42 of the 44 trade shows promoting the Rosedale on Robson Suite Hotel in Vancouver, a favourite with Aussies. The former Melburnian attended University in Melbourne before coming to Canada to live 43 years ago.

Australia enjoys an ongoing love affair with Canada. Visitation figures are at their highest ever up by 12.6 per cent on 2016 with 375,395 Aussies making the trip and typically spending more and staying longer than any other foreign market.

It was a big year for Canada as it celebrated its 150th birthday with a record-breaking 20.8 million tourists from around the world, the highest number in Canadian history.

Rendez-vous Canada reunites the many international tourism industry leaders gathered for a series of speed-dating-style appointments. International buyers seek the best-matched Canadian tourism sellers. The marketplace is held annually in Canada with a different hosting destination each year.
