He was the Secretary General of the Democratic Party.  President James Michel has presented his condolences to Mrs Gemma Joubert and her family. On his part Minister Alain St.Ange, the current Minister of Tourism and Culture of the Seychelles has said that he salutes the work done by former Minister David Joubert. “Seychelles launched its tourism in earnest in 1972 with the official opening of our island’s International Airport. James Mancham, as Chief Minister and then Prime Minister helped to initially put Seychelles on the map and start the island’s tourism industry. Then it was David Joubert who took over the portfolio as the first Tourism Minister. Today this same industry has become the pillar of our island’s economy. Tourism is today enjoying renewed successes and as Minister it is my duty to salute the work done by Minister David Joubert” said Minister Alain St.Ange
