Decorative light arches to celebrate festival of happiness & embrace the arrival of ASEAN economic community
Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) joins hands with Siam Synergy—led by MBK Public Company Limited, Siam Piwat Company Limited and Siam Square Business Group—to host “Siam Celebration 2016”, a celebratory event during the New Year festival that brings vivacity to Bangkok with embellishment of over million light bulbs at the heart of Siam area. Featuring the concept of THAILAND CELEBRATING THE OPENING OF ASEAN COMMUNITY, the event marks the celebration of the New Year festival and the start of joining ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). Among an ambience full of happiness, Thais and foreign tourists will enjoy snapping photos of themselves with decorative light arches and a LED display with more than two million light bulbs—installed along three-way intersection Chaloem Phao and the front of Siam Center from 25 December 2015 to 15 January 2016.
Mrs. Chadatip Chutrakul, CEO of Siam Piwat Co., Ltd., the owner and operator of Siam Paragon and Siam Center, a company of Siam Synergy, said “We gave a big gift to Bangkok. We have created The Siam Station the first time ever to be the tunnel of light. Decorated by 30 million baht LED – this is to mark that we SIAM is the one and only heartbeat of Bangkok. We also took this opportunity to be the FIRST nation in this region to celebrate the opening of ASEAN end of this year, which to follow the ceremony tonight. Siam Piwat is proud to once again place Thailand on the global stage as the leader of ASEAN community.”
The decorative light arches, exquisitely made, boast the ability to switch pictures and colors with no limits. The highlight includes a message “Happy New Year” written in different languages belonging to ten ASEAN countries and also in widely-used languages such as English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic. The message not only acts as a warm welcome for those who take part in the ASEAN Member Countries and other countries, but also represents the status as the center of the region. From now on, New Year celebrations will be annually held at Siam area.
Moreover, anyone—with every gender and every age—can join a selfie campaign that allows them to snap a selfie shot and share the photo onto the LED display on the light arches totaling 20. The campaign enables them to be a part of celebrating the New Year festival and welcoming the arrival of ASEAN Economic Community together on Rama I Road in front of Siam Paragon shopping center from 25 December 2015 to 15 January 2016.
