First time visits to Easter Island and Bolivia, special itineraries that focus on in-depth exploration and a stay in one of the world’s leading green hotels are highlights of APT’s South America touring program for 2018.

Available for bookings now, the new APT South America 2018 program will see the introduction of three new Small Group Discovery tours for groups of 20 guests or less that will stay longer in each destination, allowing travellers to delve deeper into the culture and natural beauty of each.

For example, the 13 day Brazil and Argentina Discovery, priced from $8,695 per person twin share, includes three nights at Iguassu Falls, allowing for a visit to both the Brazil and Argentinian sides of the World Heritage Listed National Park, and three nights in Salvador, Brazil’s “Capital of Happiness”, which appears on APT itineraries for the first time in 2018.

The 16 day Peru and Bolivia Adventure, priced from $12,895 per person twin share, will appeal to keen hikers. It includes four days in Peru’s Sacred Valley Region including the option to go hiking through the mountainous landscapes of the Lares Region, and a visit to the Bolivia’s spectacular Uyuni Salt Flats staying in the unique Hotel del Sal Luna Salada, a hotel made from salt.

Meanwhile the 13 day Pristine Patagonia, from $10,945 per person twin share, includes two nights in the resort town of Bariloche, a base to explore  Patagonia’s lakes district, and two in El Calafate, the gateway to the Perito Moreno Glacier, before crossing to Puerta Natales in Chile to explore the Torres Del Paine national park.

This tour can also be combined with a new extension to Easter Island, a four day tour offering daily excursions such as biking, hiking, snorkelling and fishing on this vibrant Island best known for its mysterious statues.

Commenting on the release of the South America 2018 brochure, APT Executive General Manager of Global Marketing and Sales Debra Fox said the new in-depth tours and extension options provided flexibility for APT travellers looking to tailor their South America experience to their interests.

“From active hiking in the Lares Region to cruising on the Amazon to soaking up the chic atmosphere of the hotel Singular Santiago, APT’s South America program is as diverse as the continent itself,” she said.

“Our 13 day itineraries and new extension options allow guests to immerse themselves in destinations that capture their imagination, while still taking in those not-negotiables that every traveller wants to see.”

For travellers looking for a broader overview of South America, APT’s popular South America Inca Journey  is a 23  day itinerary from Santiago to Arequipa in Peru. In 2018 this classic itinerary takes in Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Iguassu falls before landing in Lima bound for Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley.

At Moray, near Cusco, APT has introduced a new Signature Experience: a lunch designed by star Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez overlooking intriguing Inca ruins. This tour is priced from $16,295  per person twin share.

For those looking to delve deeper into Peru, the 22 day Peru & Galapagos Discovery with Amazon cruise from $21,295 per person twin share, includes a two night train journey across the Andes on the Belmond Andean Explorer to Lake Titicaca, a three night Amazon cruise aboard the Delfin II and three nights at Finch Bay Eco Hotel in the Galapagos Islands, a winner of the World’s Leading Green Hotel award.

A range of South America Superdeals is available for guests who book early, including air credits of up to $1000 per couple for tours of 19 to 27 days, and up to $800 per couple for tours of 18 days or less.
