Mr Wu who has been in the role for almost 18 years with the former Tourism NSW and now with Destination NSW, will depart in February.
Ms Chipchase said, “Oton has been the face of New South Wales in China since the office was established and has been instrumental in assisting NSW industry operators to access this market.”
“He has delivered many firsts for our state including the introduction of fly/drive packaging in NSW to the China market, developing Australia’s first tourism relationship with China Union Pay, giving us a presence on Weibo and more recently WeChat, forging great relationships with Ctrip, other key travel wholesalers and agencies and of course, building our airline partnerships.”
“Oton has made a remarkable contribution to driving inbound tourism from China to New South Wales and we wish him every future success.”
Mr Wu said, “It has been a privilege to represent NSW tourism in China and I am proud of what I and my team have been able to achieve. Destination NSW has created wonderful promotional opportunities for the China travel trade and for me personally.”
“I thank our CEO, the Regional Director, Jennifer Tung, and the whole DNSW team for the support they have given me over the years. I now look forward to taking some time out to travel with my wife and be the tourist for a change.”
