Dust off your cowboy hat and gear up for the mother of all extreme sports because the world’s best bucking bull riders are coming to Sydney this June long weekend (9 & 10) for the PBR Global Cup.

Kicking up the dust at Qudos Bank Arena over two bumper night sessions, the Global Cup is ‘The Ashes’ of global bull riding – pitting the world’s premier bull riding powerhouses Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and USA against each other in a battle for the title of “Toughest Nation on Dirt”.

Sydney is the second host city on the Global Cup calendar, following the series kickoff in Edmonton, Canada, last November.

With a unique competition format, the Global Cup is the biggest ever team event and battle for national pride that professional bull riding has ever seen. Over five events in five countries, each national team fights to retain their country’s piece of the PBR Global Cup trophy – the crown jewel of global riding.

The coveted 54 kg trophy comprises five separate horns, with each horn filled with soil from each competing nation. The only way to take home the whole trophy is to win every leg of the PBR Global Cup, but the biggest priority for each team will netting a hometown win to hold on to their nation’s soil and piece of the Cup.

The stakes will be higher than ever as the Australian team battles hammer and tong to keep Aussie soil on Aussie shores.

In each city, the host nation receives a home-turf advantage, fielding a 14-rider team – double the size of the visiting nations’ teams.

Three of Australia’s big-gun riders have been announced to compete in Sydney including six-time PBR World Finalist, Lachlan Richardson, 2017 PBR Australia Champion, Troy Wilkinson, and 2017 PBR Australia Rookie of the Year Aaron Kleier.

Australia’s only ever PBR World champion Troy Dunn will lead the hometown charge for glory as coach of the Australian team.

Also competing in Sydney will be USA’s reigning PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood and 2016 PBR World Champion Cooper Davis, as well as Brazil’s two-time PBR World runner-up Kaique Pacheco and 2017 Iron Cowboy winner Eduardo Aparecido.

Joining them will be Canadian young-gun Jordan Hansen and premier series rider Dakota Buttar, as well as Mexican stars Edgar Durazo, Francisco Morales, and Juan Carlos Contreras.

Single-day tickets and two-day packages to the Sydney leg of the PBR Global Cup are on sale now, with the Sunday session guaranteed to be a highlight as the final and deciding chapter in the Global Cup battle plays out.

The action-packed competition will be followed by an electrifying after-party event with live country music acts and all the bells and whistles of a full-scale theatrical production.
