Carmel Valley based Fawkes House Country Spa Retreat and Day Spa offers guests permission to pause, reflect and reconnect with what’s most important to them, in an era of technological acceleration and an overabundance of screen time.
Co-owner of Fawkes House Country Spa Retreat and Day Spa Caroline Babbage says, “Aussies have some major attachment issues with their mobile devices, especially when they are on holiday in Australia,”
“While 64% of us take holidays with the primary intent to relax almost a third of us admit to checking work emails, and working while on leave,
“And 89% of us take our work phones away with us so we don’t feel anxious,
“To help people really switch off, we created a Digital Detox package at our retreat which helps people ‘slow down’ and disconnect from their various devices, said Caroline Babbage.
“At heritage listed Fawkes House Country Spa Retreat and Day Spa we facilitate activities for our guests such as Reiki, massage, body detoxes, pilates, mediation, and painting to provide digital downtime,
“By disconnecting from our devices we can reconnect with ourselves, each other, and the community around us,
“To encourage our guests to disconnect, we provide tips on how they can prepare for their digital detox and will remove TVs from rooms on request,
“And the best part is we only accommodate four guests at a time, two in each cottage, and so a quiet, relaxing stay is assured.” Mrs Babbage said.
Last year Fawkes House Country Spa Retreat won the Local Small Business of the Year Award in the Kalamunda Chamber of Commerce Awards.
